Someone should start a thread ranking the films by Bond performance.

Why? 95% of the lists would be

1. Connery
2.
3.
4.
5. Dalton
6. Lazenby

the only real differences will be the placement of Craig, Brosnan, and Moore.

I think he meant rank by actors by specific performances. Like Connery FRWL > Moore LALD > Connery DAF

Already remade. Love Domino.

Moonraker screams for a remake. Read the book.

His friends are both killed in the beginning, the wife is raped before getting killed. Bond quits the secret service and goes rogue. It's just awesome.

Felix is 'just' maimed. He makes an appearance at the end.
The thing I don't like about the Craig Bonds is that they are basically rewriting the Bond script and making all these plot lines (like Bond's relationship with Felix) from the older Bonds meaningless. I know continuity has never been the franchise's strong suit, but still.

Goldfinger
Diamonds are Forever
Live and Let Die
From Russia With Love
Dr. No

Really have a soft spot for For Your Eyes Only because it was my first introduction to James Bond movies. I remember when it made its way to HBO one summer and was on all the time. I bet I watched that movie 20 times that summer. For those of you who remember it was a big deal to get your HBO catalog and checking to see what movies were premiering, how many times they were on, what time were they on. These were the days pre-VCR, so if you missed a movie in the theatre the next chance to see it was when it came to HBO.

Agreed! It's my second favorite Bond film of all time! I read the new Spectre script and it's amazing at how closely they portray the secret Spectre meeting.

I was hoping for "Wade" to be a main stay in the Bond movies as a new "Felix".

I'm not saying it's the best, but it is definitely underrated -

For me, the best Connery films are Dr. No and Goldfinger, but Thunderball is as good or better than the rest of his. (Connery is overrated as Bond - there I said it.)

Live and Let Die and For Your Eyes Only are the best Moore films (Moore is underrated as Bond - there I said it.)

As far as Dalton/Brosnan - I think a similar dichotomy exists - Dalton a more rugged, 2-fisted, no-nonsense Bond, and Brosnan more of a gentleman spy - although their portrayals are closer together than Connery and Moore were. Dalton's films were a little better, overall, The Living Daylights being my favorite since Connery/Moore - CAVEAT - I haven't seen a Craig film yet.

(I've been busy.)

Craigs bond is MUCH closer to the book Bond than the others. Casino Royale very well done and brought the book to mind.

There was a hardness to Flemings Bond that was also sensitive i.e. Tracy.

MWGG needs to be redone. That opening scene where he tried to kill M deserves to be in a movie.

There isn't an appropriate word in the English dictionary that would properly suit how laughable this line is.

It's completely defensible. And I think he makes a great Bond, but way too many fanboys go overboard with praise for him, particularly in tearing down Moore (who was campy and foppish - I freely admit that - doesn't mean he didn't make a very entertaining James Bond or that his movies were not good - I mean A View to a Kill was bad, but that's about it.)

Great, but still overrated.

I suspect the same is true of Craig, but I haven't seen the films yet, so I can't say, definitively.

Honestly, Dalton is my favorite and Connery is my least favorite because quite frankly he was a model with very little acting talent (at that time).

I loved him in Hunt for Red October, so in his later life I've come to like him as an actor.

In Bond films not so much.

That's literally what George Lazenby was.

Connery's Bond was great until YOLT then it started to become cliche. He didn't have much depth to him but the scripts didn't really call for him to be anymore than what he was. Lazenby's Bond was the first attempt at having some sort of depth. Right story but wrong actor.

I think Dalton was a great Bond...just ahead of his time. IMO, The Living Daylights is a very underrated Bond movie. It just needed a better Bond Girl.

Agree - my favorite Bond as well.

Vargas - he does not drink, he does not smoke, he does not make love.
