For those who got the mailer, was your voter id# on it?

The mailer putports to have my voter id number on it.

Since I don't know my number I can't say for sure the number is the correct one.

I don't live in Louisiana. Can someone explain why their motto is "Better Together"? That motto makes it sound like St. George is seceding from the City of Baton Rouge. Isn't St. George already NOT part of Baton Rouge?

That motto could be better to use after St. George incorporates and THEN tries to withdraw from the parish school system--but that is still two steps away right now, right?

Typos are the reason there needs to be better schools?

Not science, technology, engineering, progressing humanity, or seeking the truth to life's mysteries. Nope. The reason is to eradicate typos?

That's half of their strategy to sway dumbasses that don't pay attention, that and the race card. I got a mailer yesterday and made an official complaint with the registrar of voters & sec of state. The political bullying from the better together pissants is just going to get worse in the next few months.

I was going to do the same today, the whole reason they are dragging out voting on it is to allow shite like this to happen.

The information on the inside of this thing is so great to, your taxes will go up $700, yeah and the money will actually go to things that will directly benefit me. That and the thing about kids being "displaced" from schools, once st George builds schools the kids will be in much better situations (and for those with kids the marginal property tax increase is nothing compared to current cost of private schools, those without kids will benefit from higher property values due to proximity to good public school)

Oh and the best was the "your children will not be illegible to goto baton rouge high" who gives a frick?

from SG facebook

Today a mass mailer was sent out to St. George signatories urging them to withdraw their name from the petition. While we are unsure who paid for the mailer and postage, we have learned that the website they are directing people to is registered to an individual in Missouri and the registered phone number is related to a motel in Mandeville. In addition, the return address for your withdrawal request is NOT the Registrar of Voters. The address is to a downtown post office box used by Better Together Baton Rouge.

School district is not a guarantee.

You know that, right?

Will happen, and if for some reason it doesn't at least all my tax dollars won't be used by north Br and endless downtown development.

Also, getting down voted for my other post the bitter still in Br people in these threads are so comical

Don't pay for cats now, but are you trying to suggest that program has been doing well with their increased funding? Cats is a fricking joke

I'm cool with the St. George peeps doing their thing but does this mean you're never coming downtown again? It kind of cracks me up when family and friends from St George/ Praireville talk about how much they love not living in BR then want to come to my side of town for all the cultural and entertainment things going on.

Certainly not.

I live in EBR Parish now, but not in the city of BR.

I frequent downtown BR all the time, and if SG the city became a reality, I'd continue to do so. There is no reason to stop.

For me it started as strictly a school issue, but the more I see the people at City Hall fighting to keep the status quo, raise taxes for themselves, capture more and more revenue; I've come to realize it's a big power thing with them.

This is seriously your argument?

I rarely go downtown honestly but based on this theory I guess I need to stop going to nola all the time then because I don't participate in the tax base.

It is really picking up now. Some good restaurants, some good watering holes, and sometimes some good entertainment.

It's not close to NO, but it is a change of pace from the regular places in and around the area.

I'm happy to see the activity down there.
