How do you feel being that 10-8 is only 1 game better than when LSU started a tuba player?

Team should be at worst 13-5, yet here we are staring yet another almost .500 season in the face

It will simply confirm the fact even further that CJJ is a mediocre coach with mediocre results.

Take a look at CJJs career conference record as a head coach. Hovers around .500 with over a 10 season sample size.

The golden era of LSU basketball was 1978-1981 when the Tigers were 57-15 in the SEC. The four preceding years they were 25-47.

The next best period was 19889-1992 when they were 48-22. The previous four years they were 38-34.

Those periods were much more stable and with fewer player s jumping to the NBA or transferring.

Patience.

Lets give the staff a couple of more years before making any rush to judgment. Two years ago they started a converted tuba player at center with little basketball experience. If he had been a sophomore then and a senior today with two more years of play this team might look radically different.

Wonder if Damian Jones would like to graduate early and come home to play one more year?

When you factor in the number of schools that get into the NCAA tournament each year and a down SEC, JJ shouldn't need 3+ years to make the tournament.

This was goal going into the season, so I think it's a fair barometer.

Do you realize how many great coaches took 3+ years to make the tournament?

Many don't realize.

I'm not saying CJJ will or won't turn the corner for LSU, but he'll continue to get his shot.

I always hate to bring up this example, but I'll do it today. Coach K, considered one of the greatest, had an overall and conference losing record at Duke his first 3 years and didn't make the NCAAT until his 4th year. Granted, it was a smaller field, 53 according to Wiki. But it took him 4 years in an overall less competitive period.

Not saying CJJ = Coach K for those I assume will immediately go there.

his first 3-4 seasons at UNT really kill his career record. Once he got the ball rolling, his winning percentage was much higher. He honestly did a pretty awesome job considering UNT only had one NCAA tournament appearance ever before he arrived

There is a reasonable chance they will be in the NCAA tournament this year. Since Shaq left LSU has had only 5 seasons above .500 in the SEC through 2014. many of those were 4 to 5 win type seasons o worse.

Granted Randy Livingston's injury, probation and draconian sanctions and NBA defections by Stromile, Bass, and Tyrus Thomas were big factors. LSU was never stable enough to withstand those losses. They are now getting to that point, but youth also brings inconsistency unless you are at an elite level and can overcome it.

I hate to say this, but LSU isn't making the tourney.

Y'all can thank the coach and the bench.

They will probably make the NIT, and go deep.
