Pretty sure that's the oldest Par 3 course in the country, at least that is still operating.

Isn't that dependant on the area and desires of the populace? Do you think everyone should like what has happened to east BR, LP and Ascension?

I stated earlier that the waterfront downtown needs to be developed
I agree with that. That is not growth. It's a pattern shift that needs to happen.

ow you are going to argue that growth is a bad thing?

Are you suggesting that it's always good?

I'm not talking about the town growing outwardly with suburubs

but new developments within the city, something on the waterfront, new shopping centers instead of that shitty mall, etc

Not sure what that means.

Meh, the money has moved. There would need to be a reason to go down there. There isn't now.

If the mall is that shitty, it will die. it hasn't yet. I don't really get this complaint either. Same stores, but different form?

If you don't have a boat buy one. Great fishing in the area. Maybe invite the couple of good looking women living there for water recreational activities.

Drive to Marksville for the casino.
Go to the zoo.
Learn a foreign language with Rossestta Stone.

That is all I got.

This actually is happening.

Seems like everytime something new opens down there it closes one year later. A few establishments have made it but not many. Doing something with the old Bentley would be nice.

exactly...if they put something down there though, like a casino or a boardwalk or something, people would go and that area wouldn't be such a wasteland

because its the only place to shop!

I don't get your take here at all. Sounds like Ellic beat you as a child, so I'll just move along as we are never going to agree on this.

I take up for Alex everytime these threads come up, so don't act like I'm some Alex hater

but I would also like to see the town grow some because I'm afraid I will end up back there eventually

The town hasn't changed at all in 18 years. It's stagnant.

What about the businesses along Hwy 28 going away from town? I've only visted Alex a few times recently.

I don't see how it's that laughable. I grew up there, and I see nothing changing other than a couple neighborhoods and new chain restaurants replacing old chain restaurants

maybe its just me, but from someone that goes back every other month, it sure hasn't changed that much from my perspective

maybe its my fault for always going to the same places, but I always see the same people, at the same places, doing the same thing...

I would love to go to some new places, like the Mexican place mentioned in this thread, but there just hasn't been that many new places opening in Alex the last 15 or so years...

like I said, I'm not hating, but this is a legit criticism, and no town is without some criticism
