Meh, I ate there last week. It has its moments, but it certainly isnt all its hyped up to be. Way to pricey for what you get IMO.

Moved back here a year ago with the wife and kids. I can't believe I got my wife to move here, she's from the BR area as well. This place is still as "cliqueish" as it was when I left here 12 years ago. If you think you are going to make friends you really have to put yourself out there.
Go with Finnegan's or Top Shelf for bars.
Brocato's and The Cottage for lunch.
Spirits for appetizers and after hours drinks.
Red River Grill in Marksville, Jahnon's in Boyce and Maglieux's in Natchitoches are the best "upscale" places. Diamond Grill is ok and if you want to pay $40 for a tiny steak, go to Bistro on the Bayou.
I actually went to Bistro for lunch the other day and they had the worst fries I have ever had.
One thing you will love is that if you are staying in Alex, it will only take you 5-10 minutes to get anywhere, and that is even if the traffic is bad(for Alex.)
If you are young and single, you're gonna have to work to find something to do. May even have to go to Lafayette or something. If you have a family though, this place is great.

The City Council and Police Jury have been fighting about who owns the parking lot for the last year. I don't know if it will ever get renovated.

are the Aces still playing?
Nope. I think Bringhurst Field was ruled "unsafe" and I don't think anything can be held there until it is renovated.

and who remembers the Alexandria hockey team?
The good ole Warthogs. I went to two games and they won both. There was even a fight at one of them

How about the arena football team?
The Rangers....couldn't believe the city had a hockey team, arena team and minor league team.

are they ever going to re build or do something with that thing?
its falling apart
They're tearing it down and building a new one. They already passed the tax. The problem now, though, is the parking lot. The city and police jury jointly own the parking lot and there seems to be some issues there and until its resolved, no progress will be made.
The new one is supposed to look like this:

Outlaws is good bbq, oriental wok for Chinese, and then the usual chains. Their beef o'bradys is good. Pineville has a few things also and isn't dry anymore from what I heard. Paradise is closed down last time I was there (unfortunate, I like it there). The mall is crappy with a bunch of hood rats, Goths, and other mixture of unsupervised youth! Can't tell you about bars because I've never been to any of them..Not much to do besides fishing(kincade and cotile and is bo's on the river)and busting loops down Jackson street(if your young)...
Grant 2000...wouldn't trade the years in Grant, would actually go back if it weren't for my job..fishing Iatt and Nantachi(so)

Ate at Beef's a couple months ago and the waitress was bombed. She said she was still drunk from the night before. The owner wasn't too pleased.

Pretty sure they are not going to tear down the colosseum..they are just going to add on to it around the outside of it and renovate the inside of it..but I could be wrong.

Tell me about Alexandria
I'm working in Alexandria this summer. I'm from Baton Rouge and know nothing about the area. What should I do while I'm there? What are the best places to eat?
The best thing about it is this thread

Didn't say anything wrong with it. She still did her job, so I didn't care. And she didn't pass out or puke on my food so that was a plus too.
Posted on 3/5/15 at 5:06 pm to CENLALSUFAN
I think this is what is planned. Just a major renovation, it would cost far too much to rebuild it.

It's good for what it is - a privately owned restaurant in a little town.
It beats the heck out of chains all the time.
But that's just me.

Yes it is. My dad's favorite place. He will not eat out unless we offer Verona. Pretty good specials and appetizers.

I like Verona too. It's not the best I've ever had but good for Alexandria.
