I have a three year old dachshund terrior mix and he stinks! I can bathe him, and he still stinks. It's like he has this musk about him, and nothing I do will get rid of it. I've tried different shampoos, and sprays, but nothing works. Anything he lays on smells like his musk almost instantly. Any ideas or secrets to mask this odor or rid him of it completely?

Try taking him to the groomer.

Happy jack's shampoo is the shite. It's about the only thing that can beat hound stink for an extended period of time.

You need something with tar in it to kill dog fonk. It's great for their skin too.

He's short haired. Do people take short haired dogs to groomers? What could they do that I couldn't do?

I don't buy dogs when people give them away for free.

Thanks for this info! I have 2 stinky bassets. No matter how much I bathe them, they just stink. And bathing them sometimes makes it worse because it's wet stink for a while.

That doesn't answer the question.

Sounds like your dog has a yeast infection. Get him checked out by your vet. Follow his advice. Shampoo may do the trick. He may need a change in his diet. Either way, I don't think anything will get rid of the odor. Mask it yes, but not eliminate it.
