His work rate is good and he's finally tracking back and making tackles. Fair play to him this year.

Personally, I simply would expect more from a player like him, but its not my team and not my player so again carry on. Just trying to have a conversation with a good bit of banter. That's half the fun of this game and I don't get enough of it with my friends in person.

Good Luck against Arsenal and looking forward to the Derby. It's going to be a banger.

United starting to rustle their jimmies picking up points bc they are back in the top 4 race

I love the hate from all the anybody but united fans right now. Also love the siege mentality our fans have this year after the down in the dumps of last year.

It's a bit strange seeing ManU in this position. I think its good for the club and the fanbase. You need a backs to the wall mentality every now and then. As much pleasure I take in seeing you down, I know it won't last for long. Not by a long shot.

It's something the plastic clubs would never understand.

Lol, just went through post history and discovered a Liverpool fan.

Makes perfect sense.

So a new Liverpool fan trying to call out other fans on being plastic? Not sure how or why Chelsea got pulled into his attack on AY and United. He's also blind though if he didn't see a thread so I wouldn't take too much from his opinion.

I can tell you why. That is what many of them hang their hat on. They wear their mediocrity like a badge of honor.

Somehow they are better fans because they root for a worse team and I'm convinced they've started to like it that way.

When/If Pool ever get truly good again they'll probably all become Arsenal or Spurs fans.

Its because so many new fans want the history of the club. But if you start following a team this year, how much of the history do you really get? I'm more interested in the history of a club/league since the beginning of my personal interest in that club/league. History is definitely a fun thing to have, it makes a club more entertaining to research but has no impact on the current product on the field.

They also love to hate on Chelsea fans for being Chelsea fans, yet don't understand why we aren't as numerous or active all the time? That just doesn't make sense.

While this may be true those guys are still perfecting playing the role they've chosen. You guys have been good too recently for them to really get much traction playing the through thick and thin struggles card.

Sorry to chap everyone's asses so much, maybe its because I'm new here.

And again, I don't care about anyone's level of fanhood, just having a bit of fun. I've been a paying member for 20 years and studied at the University there. Not sure if that qualifies me but I'm certainly not a "new" fan.

And it's the simple lack of time and effort anyone takes to pick a club that bothers me and warrants some trash talk. Simply picking on recent success is a complete cop out and does disservice to those before them. I may be out of line or whatever, or call me a traditionalist.

At least have respect for the region, the neighborhood, the city, the political and ethnic backgrounds of the teams.

No one on this side of the pond does it and thats completely up to them, I just think its a real shame for the game and tradition which is why I love the sport so much.

Dude, we already know that in America only Liverpool fans have legit reasons for picking their club and the rest of us are just bandwagoners.

I don't know many people who picked purely on results. People pick a team who they enjoy watching. Often, these are the teams who get results. Thats just a natural link.
You never sought to inquire on how the "plastics" of this board selected their teams. Just threw out an insult at those you clearly hadn't seen on here. I think many of these "plastics" have a good understanding of the aspects you considered.
Naturally the fans on your side of the pond won't have that same understanding as the locals, due to the major fact of not having grown up submersed in the culture and history of the region. Also not to mention American footballing culture being so mixed in each city compared to Europe. I don't think it should detract from the game if fans of teams don't know every interesting historical bit about their club, that just makes their "pilgrimage" to their first game.

Didn't say that at all. I'm just against the mercenary culture that City has pushed to new heights.

I don't consider ManCs in that category and Chelsea are getting away from that as they continue to develop and keep young talent in a more sustainable and culture building method.

give me a break, you proved the point with your first sentence.

Sorry I offended you so badly. I'm used to talking shite to friends and colleagues about clubs and football, not shaking hands. It's just not the way I support the game.

If it bothers you that much I will happily cool my jets. The entire sport in europe is based off of deep cultural, politcal and economic divide. To the point of non-violence, I firmly think the banter is great.
