I went to LSU 98-03, from Houston. Both of my parents went to LSU and I was offered a full ride.

You'd have to be pretty dumb to go to LSU with the education schools like UT, aTm, Rice, etc offer.

Most of them couldn't get into UT, (correctly) think A&M people are weird, and wanted a real college experience. The "etc." you are referring to are relatively comparable to LSU academically (no one really gives a crap about undergrad rankings after the very top) and way less fun.

A lot likely has to do with their LSU Alumni parents moving to Houston for work

I may be mistaken because I remember reading about it a few years ago but does LSU no longer offer instate tuition for children of alumni?

In '97 the top 10% rule passed so was it around then or even before so?

That kicked it off. To this day, people will transfer their kids to shitty schools their senior year so they can get into the top 10%.

I graduated HS in TX in '98 and both of my parents are alumni. I believe they would have cut my out-of-state tuition in half, but I know it wouldn't have been removed entirely.

My brother came to LSU after me and had the same deal, reduced out-of-state tuition, but it wasn't the same price as in-state.

When they realized that being a Longhorn or Aggie wasn't even cool in Texas.

It was not quite in state pricing but it was a significant cut from out of state. Went away a year before my oldest child graduated.

Story of my life. Bad timing.

I know a lot of my out of state friends in school had full rides or close to it due to most instate students using tops. If my future kids want to go to LSU they will need to get scholarships. I'm not paying out of state prices.

LSU is expecting to recruit OOS much more heavily going forward, and that talk was even a midst the budget cut crisis. it's how Alabama has basically rebuilt its entire campus

I have a niece from Dallas at LSU. Her dad says it cost more to go to school in TX.
Also, no pics.

Because they couldn't get in to Texas and A&M and LSU was there with an offer they couldn't turn down.

My brother lives in Texas and was accepted to get into UT, Rice, U of H and LSU. He chose to go to LSU. He has always loved LSU but think i would have had to choose Rice.

In state kids bitch about not being able to afford school with tops. If only they knew what OOS tuition looked like
