I talked to my friend about 10 minutes ago. He told me my pay would be between 10 and 11. With a raise in 90 days.
Let's hope.

yes, I would personally enjoy working in an auto parts warehouse...
now, it is not gonna be your career or anything like that...but if you want a job to earn some spending money, it would not be bad at all...

I was a Toyota parts counterman who worked his was up to Parts Manager in my 12+ years. Most I ever made in 1 year was $42000 in 2006. We were paid a base of $1500 per month plus commission (commission percentage varied depending on tenure and position).
That said, the long hours, working every other Saturday and dealing with stupid customers and prima donna mechanics made it a shitty job.
I wouldn't recommend it if it's something you're considering as a long term career.

Go for it, man. I'm sure the turnover at dealerships is fairly high (no data to support this, just a guess). You may be able to work your way up pretty fast. If you don't have anything better on the horizon, why not?

20% of your hours will be at $15 an hour. Better than Wal mart.
Benefits?

don't dealership people pretty much have to work every weekend? that would almost be as big a deal breaker to me as the low pay.
6 days a week. Sundays off.

Yes turnover is high.
When I was 15, to my current age I am a gearhead.
I worked at AZ for 7 years. I know my parts.

There are a lot if variables in this equation to determine the worth of the endeavor

Is it worth working at a commercial car dealership?
Only if they let you appear in their commercials, preferably in costume and/or shouting something to the effect of "My prices are so low...you'll think I'm crazy!"

Huge turnover rate among dealership parts salesmen. They bump from one to the other for a little pay bump and then back again. Is this your first dealership job away from retail parts?

I haven't worked at a car lot, but do know a couple of folks that have and can tell you without a doubt that it wouldn't be the job for me at all.
Selling cars is a terrible job. Lot's of turnover at the larger dealerships. Called on nothing but car dealers for a couple of years when I sold print advertising. During the week between Christmas and New Years some of them would fire managers and multiple salespeople. After new years I'd have new contacts to deal with. I guess you could say they landed on their feet. They'd all end up at another lot in a couple of weeks.

I was Parts Mgr at a Toyota dealer in B.R. 85k+ and 4 of my parts men made 50K+ 15 years ago. It's good money for a position that doesn't require a degree.
