To a rational human being, but the argument is that suicide victims are not in a rational state of being.

What? Are you asking if its proven humans can have serotonin and/or dopamine deficiencies that causes depression?

Yeah- I'm not questioning the assertion. I was just wanting some solid reading material on human research (not just rats).

The millions of people on anti-depressants can be your guinea pigs.

Just speaking to what I was saying about what different levels of neurotransmitters will do to the prefrontal cortex. This one is an easy read:

This is your brain in meltdown

Thank you. This looks great.

Right- but I thought they still don't know how anti-depressants actually work. Yes, they know they can be effective. But as for their mechanism, I thought they were still unsure.

im not saying there isnt in "some" cases. Like when someone is caught doing something and dont want jail time or embarrasment, there are those situations. But most suicide is from depression, and mental illness. A very real sickness that alot of people have no clue about and pop off at the mouth screaming selfish everytime something about suicide is posted.

well police look for them because they help them close a case as a suicide faster.

obviously it isn't necessary, but if it looks like a suicide, and they find a suicide note and authenticate it, that goes a long way.

Depends on the drug, but most have a known mechanism of action

Nope, they are pretty sure. Selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors, for instance, prevents the re-uptake of serotonin into the synaptic vesicles which makes it more available to the postsynaptic receptor. These are usually given for GAD or major depression and take about a month to really begin working properly.

SSRIs, MAOIs, SNRIs, Tricyclics (not used for depression much anymore), all have a known MOA

My doctor gave me Zoloft for anxiety. I wanted some benzos, but he was too responsible to give a 27 year old guy who still parties on weekends a script for Klonopin.

Zoloft made me depressed, gained weight, and did nothing for anxiety.

So I stopped.

Now I just do breathing exercises and drink a couple fingers of scotch before bed. I sleep better and my anxiety is better.
