Anyone ever have their PayPal account hijacked?

Got an email this morning from a site called Giftcardsy.com thanking me for purchasing $62.95 of Itunes gift cards via PayPal. I check my paypal and sure enough, the charge is pending. I go to look at the email and it's gone. Not even in my trash. Password is the same for my email and paypal, so i guess theyre just having fun with it.
I changed all my passwords (I wonder why they didn't do this to buy themselves more time ) Emailed Giftcardsy and paypal and told them about it. Anything else I should do?
Only public WiFi I use is LSU's. No way someone guessed my password. Absolutely no way. It's not my dog's name or some shite
Only thing I'm really scared of is a keylogger

Yes, through my ebay account. Several thousand dollars. Luckily they overdrew the account and I figured it out almost immediately. Paypal is very good with dispute resolution. I changed my password.

An attempt was made on mine...Paypal caught it and notified me before they could get to the pending or completed stage. Props to Paypal.

Happened to me. Someone purchased an ipad mini on my account. My bank account was tied to the paypal account. Charge was pending, got it removed and immediately removed my bank account from paypal

It's best to write a sentence as your password like "TheLSUTIGERSsuckedfrickingdickon1/9!"

Yep, happened to me.
They charged a few hundred bucks and linked a tracking number. The tracking number was headed to my house so I had to convince them I did not buy anything while they talked to Paypal saying I did buy something. Said they had emails and everything.
Was pretty interesting.

This happened to me several months ago. About 10 or 11 charges of $100-$200. It actually caused me to cancel PayPal for a while. Both them and usaa were awesome about getting it resolved though.

I have honestly never considered the possibility...sounds pretty damn scary to me...

The simplest solution is don't store your credit card info on PayPal anymore. It's a little extra work but you can enter that info every time you use the account.
Don't use the same password for email and other accounts, especially anything financial.
Do a boot log virus scan. Run Malwarebytes (trial copy).
Install an app like WOT in your browser to see if web sites present any danger before you go there.
Make sure you have a firewall, either in Windows, or in your virus protection program.

I do not even a Pay Pal Account and I got an email saying someone charged some Lingerie on my Account The email showed up on Hotmail and it had a lot of addresses similar to my address. I think maybe they hit it by luck. I contacted Pay Pal and sent them the email and said they were working on this Scam. This has been going on for a while whoever is involved.

I've gotten a few of those also. They mass mail an alert to as many email addresses as possible. The email has a link to a bogus web site (for paypal, any bank, or credit company, etc.) If you follow their link, it routes you to a fake site and when you "login", they have your password.
Short story ... don't click their link, use your own path to the real address.

never had an issue, but removed my bank account just in case...I never use my bank account on there anyway.

Happened to me once. Person went balls to the wall on eBay so Paypal caught it within minutes and stopped it. Was trivial to recover from. Also...
If this is a real possibility, make sure the machine you suspect is compromised isn't the one you used to change your password.

Not me, but I had a coworker who had his account hacked and a phone was purchased on it from Vietnam. He had his PayPal account linked to his checking account like a dumbass. They hit him for about 500 bucks and it took him a couple weeks to get paid back.
Please don't link your checking account on PayPal people.
