I think You were the first person on here I saw mention this program and it got me interested. i'm in my second week of first cycle. Did bench workout today and got 8 reps on the final 3+ set

I normally run his boring but big challenge during the winter. I'll do something akin to his North of Vag program during the spring
What? These are really the names?

Boring but big is one of the names for an assistance regimen along with 5.3.1. Not sure about that second one

Yea, he has reasons for naming that, but yea he is a tad rough around the edges and tells it like it is.

North of vag is named that because his long time friend who had given up lifting started doing 5/3/1 and wrote him a l3tter thinking him for getting him just north of being a vag or some ahit like that. Its just one of the assistance templates.

I just downloaded beyond 5-3-1. Going to have to do some reading but looks interesting.

Jim Wendler is damn good.
I recommend reading all his articles on tnation.com and read some Dan John and Christian thibodeau.

I looked at it high level and seems like it would take a lot more time per workout. I love the 5.3.1 for the simplicity and get you in there doing work and out in an hour

Yea dan is a simple kinda guy but his programs are awesome. Easy strength by him and paval is a great book.
Christian is a damn genius. his superman program is amazing for getting ripped.

I'm going to commit to doing 5.3.1 for the entire year and see how much gain I can make. If I gain at the prescribed pace I should be at a 300lb 1rm for bench and have a shot and squatting 4 hundo. We shall see.
Posted on 3/2/15 at 9:47 pm to lsu777
That is awesome, I may need to hop on the North of Vag program!

Link? Change to a new lift routine in two weeks.

Good to see there are a few other serious lifters on here who do their homework and read up on tnation like me.
Posted on 3/2/15 at 9:56 pm to GeorgeTheGreek
I'm. by no means a serious lifter but I'm back in the game now and committed.
