Surely the OPs mere presence doesn't piss off the family. I always say go to the funeral. There will only be one.

If it is important to you, go. Personally, if I never had to go to another funeral ever again, that would be okay with me. Funerals don't help me grieve, they just make me anxious and more depressed.

My ex would welcome me if I showed up to her mother's funeral. We ended on good terms though. When my mother passed, my ex showed up and it was great to see her and the respect she showed my mother and my family.

I say 100% go.
