Would be a horrible move by Philly imo.

I hope they do it.. Total shite move and they will get what they want. A qb that will be out of the league within 5 years... I have never liked Philly anyway... I hope every team in that shite city finishes in last place every year.....

Note to Chip:
Michael Vick for Tomlinson and Brees (2 HOFers)

Herschal Walker for half the Hall of Fame

Ricky Williams for Saints entire draft plus future 1st & 3rd

None of these ended well

In fairness to vick Brees was never going to be a hall of famer in San diego. Vick was worth it for Atlanta minus his jail sentence

What does Kelly have to lose if he thinks Mariota is THE guy he needs to run his system effectively?

If he gets him and it fails he can head back to college and have his pick of almost any program. If he gets him and it works then he stays in Philly. Either way, he will be cashing large checks for the foreseeable future.

I doubt thats how Kelly and his belichick size ego wants his time in the pros to be written about

Maybe he doesnt care about the pressure of giving up 4 or 5 picks for him. But man that city will eat them both alive if it doesnt work out . a team that dumped McNabb to a division rival lol

I would be surprised if they actually trade up to get him. They will have to give up too much.

What would cost them more, trading up to get MM or trading for Cam Newton?

Why not? If he thinks that there is, say, a 70% of better chance that Mariota will be elite running his system, that's his best route to the super bowl.
And if it fails, he won't pay the price - the Eagles and their fans will. He'll just get another great job.

And Kelly hopefully will be fired about the time Richt is fired or retires so he can become Georgia's new coach. What? I can dream damn it!

depends on the deal.

some SPECULATED deals have two #1's and some other picks.

He should not have showed his hand. Maybe these stories are creative writing.

He could have just let nature take its course. Mariota could have fallen into his lap.

That seems pretty likely

The coons gave up five for julio. Their 1st,2nd, and 4th round that year and their 1st and 4th the next. To go from 27 to 6. A pretty comparable scenario

Why trade up for someone not worth trading up for?

Kelly has shown that he has an unusual attraction to Pac-12 guys, but I appreciate his logic. The draft tends to be a crap shoot so Kelly takes the guys he knows when all else is equal. I've got no problem with him going get Mariota, but I question how far up he truly has to go.

I am sure Chip's evaluation of qbs is better than a bunch of LSU fans.
