Where do you rank Gladiator all-time?

Everyone I've talked to about it seems to regard it very highly and I'm inclined to agree. The movie was WAY ahead of its time and the acting in damn near every role was phenomenal. I'm not sure where I'd rank it out of every genre, but it's definitely in my top 3 in terms of war movies.

wut?
It's a pseudo-historical epic, and hardly the first.

Great movie. I don't view it as a war movie. I put it on par with Braveheart in terms of modernish movies of that kind.

I really like this movie and would probably rank it in my top 30..well maybe. Just thinking about trying to compile that list gives me a headache.

I'd say its director Ridley Scott's 5th or 6th best movie. Behind Blade Runner, Alien, Thelma and Louise, The Duellists, Matchstick Men and maybe Black Hawk Down.

I enjoy Gladiator far more than any of these.
OP, I think it's held up really well. I can't help but watch it every time I see it on.

Great movie. It's a top 30 movie for me no doubt.

It's one of those movies that I'll still watch on TNT same as Troy

It's definitely a great movie. I watch it anytime I see it on tv. I'd say it's in my top 10.

A little above the middle. It doesnt even register on my favorite war movies. In most ways besides its one real battle scene it isn't really a war movie.

It's not the best film, but it's my favorite film of all time time. I still get goosebumps when Maximus reveals himself to Commodus.

One of my all-time favorites, favorite Russell Crowe role. Watched it the other day and it has aged really well, the CGI for Rome is still holding up great. Joaquin absolutely kills it I love watching him act in his scenes. Wouldn't call it a war movie though, epic action and adventure but not war.
