Pure buy and hold fund does very well over 80 years

"Pure" buy and hold means they bought a bunch of shares 80 years ago and haven't touched it since. Not even following an index, since to do so means occasional transaction fees as the index changes.

A lot of end point sensitivity because of when they bought.

Also, I would like to know how that strategy as a whole did vs the indexing peer group. The guy who bought AAPL and Walmart in the 80's also seems like a genius, but that's not really a track record.

Great article. I am enjoying setting up my portfolio with companies I believe will govern the future more so than they do the present.

AAPL and V just to name two.

I bought a pair of scissors at Walgreens today. They were made by 3M, paid for with my Visa, and did the transaction with Apple Pay. Just buying that one item I contributed to the bottom line of 4 companies I own.

it beats S&P index over last 5, 10 & 15 years
trails over last 1 & 3 years

like broad index ETFs, it beats almost all actively managed funds over 10+ years
