Thoughts on this workout
Pretty much alternate between workout of bench, squat, deadlift
And overhead press squat and deadlift with pull-ups .
Anybody ever tried it?

Yes - it is great for a beginner and it is great for someone advanced who needs to change it up a bit and focus on the basic lifts (which are the best IMO). You cannot lose giving it a go.

Lot of deadlifts, and not much core. I'm no expert though.
It's basically the main lifts though. Focus on those and having proper form. Don't worry about weight if you're starting out. Make sure you have good form and don't hurt yourself.

If you've been working out for a while and are getting stuck on your weights, I would suggest Wendler's 5/3/1.
I've been using it for about a year and it's one of the only programs I've noticed consistent increases in my weights lifted.
It is slower as far as progression goes, but it'll keep your joints and such healthy as long as you take the prescribed deload/off weeks.
You can find the PDF of the book online too.

I'm doing it and like the simplicity of it.
If you are adding weight to the main lifts just about every time you hit the gym, you are getting stronger. At some point that will level off and you'll have to vary the programming, but I think it's a can't miss progr for beginners.

these compound workouts give you the most size and strength gain, especially if you're novice.
