he should probably just stay in prison for the rest of his life, I don't see him turning out to be a big contributor to society.

LINK

Cliffs notes: 15 year old middle school student knocks out bus driver, another kid saves the day by stopping the bus.

EDIT: did y'all know there's a search function?

7th grade and 15 years old, that's part of your problem there.

Yea, that's insane. Scruffy was a sophomore at that age.

As a teacher and administrator, bus drivers face one of the toughest jobs in the system. Until you've done it and ridden along and witnessed some of the things they put up with and try to maintain control, my hat's off to them. Granted hours are not long, but extremely stressful with a load of unruly kids and then to get punched on top of that, hopefully the young man who stopped the bus is properly recognized for preventing a possibly terrible situation and the kid that punched the driver never sees the school bus door again or the doors of the regular school again. Educate him in jail.

And yet, people are against common core.

The system we have in place is better?

For kids like this, it wouldn't matter if it was common core, apple core, or any type of plan. This type of situation will continue to happen regardless of the structure of the curriculum.

Here's another thread on it from yesterday: LINK

Kid was already in an alternative school for kids who are 2 or more years behind their grade level or discipline problems. At least his mom brought him into the police station and isn't saying how good and innocent he is.

Having gone through La public schools in a rural parish, it's not the system in place. We had 19 year olds in the 8/9th grades.

This will not stop unfortunately. This trend will continue. There will always be those who don't want to conform and refuse to take advantage of the educational opportunity that is given to them. Schools are full of them. There is no perceived value in a quality education. Just lost a student to armed robbery charges. Sad, but it's almost come to be expected from a certain percentage of your student body regardless.
