So basically he thinks he owes nothing, but if in court it says he does, he wants aTm to pay it

And apparently aTm is saying now. I don't care if LSU ever gets it, but I want a judge to say they deserve it just so I can watch the standoff between Butter Bean and aTm

I wouldn't be suprised if we get sanctions by the SEC/NCAA over this

So he is suing his new employer as well? Way to get off on the right foot.

I like it. I like it. A&M could be forced to pay LSU andemploy a guy who sued them. Hell, they may have to fire Chavis if it turns out he misrepresented his buyout to A&M.

I guess now we know why Texas A&M took so long to officially announce Chavis as its new DC. The fact remains that Chavis was recruiting for A&M at least on January 15th (if not earlier) which makes him owe the 400k.

It's a good thing Chavis is the plaintiff and not having to play defense.

I've been told that he likes undersized lawyers.

He's got balls suing his current empl

Let me show you how this works.

He knows he personally owes LSU the money. He is pissed because it represents his raise.
If aTm pays it for him, it is viewed as income and he is taxed about 48% off the top.
But by suing both, he'll lose the LSU side but mysteriously "win" against aTm which will get him the money to pay LSU. The money from aTm via lawsuit is NOT taxed.

Basically, Legal way for aTm to pay his debt.

so Alleva wants the 400k on Jan 4....because he has taken the job else where or he has left the program...Jan 5th he gives his 30 day notice

He called his lawyer after Alleva handed him the bill. His lawyer wrote his 30 day notice for him after reviewing what was left of his contract

There's a tweet from a A&M recruit that is time stamped January 15, 2015 with Chief in A&M apparel. He's such a jackass.

Everyone's missing the play here. The only way that Chavis could file suit (and select the venue (Brazos County)) is if A&M took the position that it didn't owe him anything. Therefore, he files for a declaratory action in Aggieland beating LSU to the punch in being able to file lawsuit for damages in EBR Parish. Of course, A&M will pay the judgment if a court in Aggieland says Chavis is on the hook, but what do you think those odds are? Alleva outflanked once again.....

Chavis Layer: Your Honor, we call DJ Welter to the stand.

Les Miles whispers to LSU's attorney: He'll back up everything Chief says, but if you go right at him on cross, he won't be able to stop you from making our points.

Lsu needs to take the high road on this one and let it go

NO

frickING

WAY!

It is a contract. There is no "high road" other than living by the terms of the contract, period.

I've explained why it was filed. ATM will act like they are fighting, but pay it in the end.

This is an individual leaving one employer to go to another employer, yet he wants one of them to be responsible for his classless actions.

frick that bitch! He wouldn't have named aTm at all if he thought he could win against LSU. His lawyers know, they are smart and contract is clear. When he got on that plane to Texas instead of riding with Lsu, he fricked himself.

I love it
