Not totally obscure, but never gets its due as a great rock song.

The Jaynettes 1963 recording of "Sally Go 'Round the Roses":
LINK

My band does a cover of this song and I'm probably the only 61-year-old-hippie-with-hair-down-to-his-arse singing this all-girl trio R&B hit.

Awesome fricking song though.

This Time Tomorrow

Ray Davies recent Rolling Stone interview, he calls this out as an "underrated song".

And he's correct on that estimate.

Deep Purple - April

ETA: All Deep Purple songs that are not Smoke on the Water are underrated.

BOC - The Great Sun Jester

quote:

Now he's dying in his grief
And the hard men dragged him down
They have killed the wild-eyed jester
They have killed the fireclown

Now his blind eyes seek the starlight
And his fingers seek controls
To take him into space again
Where he was both young and old
The dancers stiff with pain
And they've made him kneel too long
And the madness they have driven out
They've left him cold and sane.
