2 biggest problems with this is that the original should remain untainted, and also that there is no PKD material to work with. Any word on if EJO will be involved?

Heck, this is one of the best examples I can think of - for a delayed sequel - it was more of a conventional story and how can you follow Kubrick? But, on the whole, I'm completely okay with 2010 as a movie - it accomplished what it set out to do.

I saw 2010 in the theaters and loved it.

Ironically, I have never seen more then just clips of 2001. One of these days I need to sit down and watch it.

It is an unconventional film, but literally on the short list of 8 or 10 films every fan of film MUST watch - and probably #1 for science fiction fans. But, be warned, you probably won't get it until you're all the way through. What I would do, is just plan on watching 2010 right after.

You kind of have some spoilerish stuff that a filmgoer wouldn't normally have going in - but you'll have to recall that it was 1969 - everything "special effect" and "space" since then has been instructed by it and compared to it. It is starting to show its age and some of the abstract special effects are - polarizing - to some fans and critics, but even if you end up hating it - it is a must see film because of it's widespread influence - 2 separate categories of influence - Kubrick disciples and science fiction - if there are 2 "bible" films of science fiction, they are Metropolis and 2001 - Star Wars and Forbidden Planet would come in the next tier.

Then Arthur C Clark's book 2061 should be an absolute read. The gems we will find on Europa will be earth shattering. Our scientists already have their sights set on this moon. Can't wait.

Why? Because Hollywood, Ridley Scott and Harrison Ford need money and, "frick you!" - that's why.

Ford was the worst part of Blade Runner. Simply terrible acting.

The existence of a sequel would not destroy the original. You can still watch the original and ignore the sequel if you want. No one will confiscate all copies of the original.

He is not a good actor in anything. He can do Han Solo/Jndiana Jones and that's about it.

Hmmm I have seen 3 out of 4.

I will try to track it down here in the next couple of weeks now that my schedule is slowing down again.

Thanks for the tip

What?

You want to see Ford earn his acting chops?

Pick up a copy of The Fugitive, maybe his greatest role ever and he barely talks.

I haven't seen The Fugitive since it was at the theater. Forgot about that movie.
