Who here pays their bills at the place of business?

A guy up here at work said he spent yesterday paying bills. He goes all over Baton Rouge and pays at the different places, water company, electric, gas, cable, AT&T, etc.
He has computer skills, with his whole house wired, and he can control stuff from his phone, so it's not that he is ignorant of computers.
He says he just has always done that, the same as his parents did when he was a kid.
He has zero credit cards, so he has no bills out side of the Baton Rouge area.
I just find this odd.
I pay 90% of my bills on line, with just a few I need to mail.

Misread the question at first..
I pay my utilities in person, in cash, a mistake several years ago on their part, has made me stick to this.

We do for some and mail checks for others. Have never paid a single one with smart phone and don't know how.

do you know how to pay bills on the internet?
example: entergy
make account with username password (like on td.com)
use credit/debit/checking account info to pay bill
same way on phone.

I pay 100% of my bills online and through bill pay with Chase. I never mail a payment. Ever.

My grandma used to do this before she moved in with the parents. It's awesome.

The older generation is terrified of paying bills online or via a smartphone.
I'm 30 and wouldn't have it any other way. I have electronic confirmations of each of my payments in case someone ever tries to claim I didn't pay.

How is wasting time and gas driving all over town for something you could do in like 2 minutes while in your pjs on the couch awesome?

That's awesome of your grandma's parents to take her in! You know this is the "boomerang" era.

I'm 35. I pay most things online, with a couple via check and the mail.
I just finished paying my truck off and for some reason I made every payment in person. Weird.

He sounds like some kind of eccentric who's afraid of getting his indentify stolen or something.
Do you know if he banks online?
I wrote my first check in probably 8 years on Tuesday (deductible on some repairs I'm having done on my house).

I can't believe anyone would still do this. Everyone of my bills are auto drafted from my account which was setup online. I can't stand when I have to mail a check in, let alone actually drive to drop one off.

Some people don't have bank accounts

A friend of mine used to do this. Not with everything she paid though. It would aggravate me to no end knowing she did this. I never could understand it but she said, that's how she had always done it so she was just used to it.

The only people I know who do this are on welfare. It's trashy.

That is just dumb. It's a waste of time and gas. Not to mention BR traffic.
I have bill pay set up through my bank account. I log onto my bank app and I have my entire list of bills. Truck note, mortgage, cable, water, etc. I just click on whichever one and enter the amount and it goes through within a couple of days. Easiest thing ever and I don't get charged any kind of extra fees for paying by phone or anything like that.
