Although they are athletes, it's not a sport.
Auto racing is a sport, although you don't need to be an athlete to compete.
Whether something is a sport or not has nothing to do with whether or not the participants are athletes.

Eh.
To my knowledge, MMA isn't scripted. MMA may not be a sport for other reasons, but it it at least has some level of authentic competition going on which wrestling does not appear to have

Most fights are decided by a committee of judges, which isn't that different from a booking committee deciding matches in wrestling.
I'll admit though, I'm reaching here.

Well there was a certain MMA org (no longer around) that was controlled by the Yakuza and notorious for fixing fights.

I consider anything covered on ESPN a sport and it is not on that list. Wonder if this will get whacked like the is golf a sport thread?

MMA fighters are not working together to choreograph move sets. Wrestlers are. It is athletic but not a sport.
