Hey,

My Siberian husky is 7 months right now and im looking to send him away for obedience training over the summer. One of my buddies referred me to Steve Riggins but I've been hearing mixed reviews about how harsh he can be towards his dogs. Does anybody know of some good trainers within a hour of the Baton Rouge area?

Thanks

Huskeys are some hard headed, strong willed, independdnt dogs. They're beautiful, but man they're hard to work with.

Yeah I've definitely experienced that. Im told Steve Riggins usually doesn't train Husky unless its a client referral. So any info would greatly be appreciated

We picked up a stray husky - didn't take long to figure out why - not only was he untrainable, he didn't like anybody but me. Heck, he was training us.

Then somebody stole him. Good riddance.

Get it a small sled and put weights in it and let the dog drag it around the yard all day, it's what it was bred to do.

what does he/she do exactly?

just overall too hyper?

I have two one is a little over a year and one is 5 months old.

My older one was a hyper arse SOB. I was ready to get rid of her because you couldnt walk more than 2 steps without her jumping all over you non stop. but once she turned a year it seemed like she really calmed down and rarely acts like that. occasionally when she does We have been popping her in the snout not hard but still letting her know it was bad and saying NO. she seems to really take to that.

has been the perfect dog since then. my 2 year old and the huskys get along perfect. no problems. and they were very easy to house train. It just takes a set routine every single day until they are old enough to hold it.

just my honest opinion

Hes pretty hyper, but thats not the biggest issue. He will jump on people when they first walk into my house to greet them and doesnt seem to listen to me ever when i try to stop him. What I really want to get fixed is is walking habits. He pulls on me and its almost like hes walking me.

The biggest reason why im trying to send him away to a program thats around a month long is because I have an internship over the summer in Houston and my dad dosent want the dog in his house cause of how much huskies shed.
