Not a fan of the man, but a bit silly to suspend him over that.

I wouldn't listen to Olbermann if him and Finebaum were the only 2 things on TV

Why exactly was he attacking the students? Was he provoked?

someone tweeted him "We Are!" with a link to a PSU fansite. He probably made his joke without even reading the article.

and everyone's freaking out because it was about little kids with cancer.

A PSU fan/student tweeted "We are" at him w/a link to a fundraising campaign story on PSU centric site.

"We are, Penn State!" is a cheer that PSU does that supposedly came about in the Jim Crow era. PSU was coming to Dallas to play SMU. SMU reps were throwing a shite fit about PSU having black players and didn't want them to be brought. PSU President told the SMU people something along the lines of "There will be no discussion. We are Penn State!" when they demanded the black players stay home.

Anyway, KO finished the "We are" w/the single comment of "pathetic" instead of the typical "Penn State" and it went from there.

I disagree. The fact that he clearly misread the original tweet and was so obstinate afterwards, and then continued to spiral downward into stupid namecalling on social media...all of that is suspensio-worthy.

If you're famous and represent your employer like he does, and you're gonna be stupid enough to get in a dick-measuring contest on social media, you should expect consequences when your employer isn't happy with how they were represented.

i agree with 99% of his PSU takes. This just seemed petty. No real issue with him taking a week off.

What a dumb@ss. He deserves to be suspended just for being an idiot, that isn't a fight he is ever going to win so why even wade into a twitter war.

This.

I think he's been on point with his commentary about PSU, but engaging some fans with condescending tweets is just stupid. He needs a timeout.

That's Olbermann to a tee. I don't know what ESPN thought would be different when they hired the guy.

This is what he does.

Right, but when it slips into a petty shite talking contest, and the original tweet was about fundraising for children with cancer, it makes not only him look bad, but the network as well.

I'm good with whatever "punishment" the network decided to give (or not give) him. I'm sure he'll just take this as a week of vacation and everyone will move on.
