Am I missing something here? The guy has spread some of the most inflammatory hate speech in our nation's history, and he gets celebrated as a civil rights activist just because he is an African American?

I am seriously perplexed.

It is probably a crime to even question his greatness.

If Hitler was black he'd be a hero in our country.

I just don't understand. Seems like our kids are being taught things quite differently than when I grew up...

Obviously the government controls Nickelodeon and they use it to promote liberal ideologies to our children.

sounds like you don't know much about malcolm x

first, he wasn't some "black panther" radical

quote:

Be peaceful, be courteous, obey the law, respect everyone; but if someone puts his hand on you, send him to the cemetery.

quote:

I believe in the brotherhood of man, all men, but I don't believe in brotherhood with anybody who doesn't want brotherhood with me. I believe in treating people right, but I'm not going to waste my time trying to treat somebody right who doesn't know how to return the treatment.

quote:

I have more respect for a man who lets me know where he stands, even if he's wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil.

he was more of a separatist than anything. given the time period, that wasn't as extreme as his mythology has morphed him into

quote:

No, we are not anti-white. But we don't have time for the white man. The white man is on top already, the white man is the boss already... He has first-class citizenship already. So you are wasting your time talking to the white man. We are working on our own people.

i don't think he actively engaged in violence, but he was just the counter to MLK...and he made MLK seem reasonable to white america

quote:

I am for violence if non-violence means we continue postponing a solution to the American black man's problem just to avoid violence.

quote:

A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.

quote:

He got the peace prize, we got the problem.... If I'm following a general, and he's leading me into a battle, and the enemy tends to give him rewards, or awards, I get suspicious of him. Especially if he gets a peace award before the war is over

quote:

I'll say nothing against him. At one time the whites in the United States called him a racialist, and extremist, and a Communist. Then the Black Muslims came along and the whites thanked the Lord for Martin Luther King

you do know that he basically came out against his extremist philosophies later in life (why he was killed)?

quote:

I am not a racist.... In the past I permitted myself to be used...to make sweeping indictments of all white people, the entire white race and these generalizations have caused injuries to some whites who perhaps did not deserve to be hurt. Because of the spiritual enlightenment which I was blessed to receive as a result of my recent pilgrimage to the Holy city of Mecca, I no longer subscribe to sweeping indictments of any one race. I am now striving to live the life of a true...Muslim. I must repeat that I am not a racist nor do I subscribe to the tenants of racism. I can state in all sincerity that I wish nothing but freedom, justice and equality, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all people."

quote:

Our people have made the mistake of confusing the methods with the objectives. As long as we agree on objectives, we should never fall out with each other just because we believe in different methods, or tactics, or strategy. We have to keep in mind at all times that we are not fighting for separation. We are fighting for recognition as free humans in this society

quote:

Here I am, back in Mecca. I am still traveling, trying to broaden my mind, for I've seen too much of the damage narrow-mindedness can make of things, and when I return home to America, I will devote what energies I have to repairing the damage

quote:

In my recent travels into African countries and others, I was impressed by the importance of having a working unity among all peoples, black as well as white

A lot of those early quotes remind me of someone saying, "I'm not racist, but..."

Malcolm X was a racist piece of shite. I'm pretty racist too, so I'm not really casting stones, just stating a fact. If you think he wasn't a radical racist piece of shite, and you think that our children should be celebrating him, you are a fricking moron.

Yeah, and King was far more radical than people today like to believe.

The dichotomy between King and Malcolm X also plays into a kind of undercover racism, in which people can say: "I'm not racist you know. After all, there's a difference between blacks and n*****".

and then he realized teh error of his ways later in life and criticized his separatist leanings

when you reach self actualization and realize the error of your ways, you can compare yourself to mr x
