Looks like ATT changed its policy.

Used to be if you went into ATT 30-45 days early you could get your upgrade. Hell, I've done it after a year or year and a half. MUCH tighter now.
WEnt in to get my passport. $199. Keep in mind I have an unlimited data plan. 2 years is up on April 5. They will not budge. Not even one day. Then tried to get me on the next plan. Would've been $21 a month. Um, yeah. I can get it unlocked off of Amazon with a factory warranty in the $3 or 400's. Guess I will have to wait until April 5 then. Called their bluff and walked out.

Where are you seeing prices that low on Amazon? I went in today to put my hands on the passport and was pleasantly surprised. It felt a lot better in my hand than I was expecting. Ultimately had the same conversation you did with the rep and promptly left.

Its only a few weeks. I'll come back and get it then. No big deal. The Next deal is not as good. I know its $21 a month but I just buy the phone from ATT for $200. Let me see what Amazon is right now.
$422 used but still pretty new. I suspect in a few weeks the price will drop on Amazon as the ATT one's hit the market. Ebay is in the 400's as well. Thats still much cheaper than the ATT off contract price of $650.
I'll just wait a few weeks.

You should be able to get it on the 1st of the month. The new policy is to move the upgrade up to the beginning of the month in which you would be upgrade eligible. If you want it sooner than that, you would need to purchase it via NEXT.

that's why I dumped them. Just paid 600 for an unlocked note 4 but I am paying 40 less per month with consumer cellular. F*ck ATT. They would budge on my uverse bill either....I am att free right now......uverse is pretty good after experiencing time warner though.
