Camping ideas in Texas for April

SO wants to do a camping trip in first week of April, any ideas?
Camping, hiking, River if it's warm enough? Would be tent site, but want to kind of be out there together, and not so much at a crowded site...
Friend suggested marble falls? Thoughts? Suggestions?
ETA: probably three days, two nights due to her work schedule

Where are you coming from and how far from there are you willing to go?
edit: car camping only or will you hike to get more seclusion?

Garner is awesome in April
I love camping at Enchated Rock but you won't be able to get a spot this late
Colorado Bend has some great camping
Pedernales Falls and Guadeloupe River state parks are really nice too
Basically most any state park in the hill country will be great in April

We'd be leaving out of Houston. Would prefer to keep it within three hour's drive.
I'm open to getting out there a ways, but she had never been... Better to break her in smoothly?

Then I'll echo lonestar's sentiment about any hill country park being good with Pedernales being my top choice.

Big Bend or Guadalupe Mtns if you're up for adventure.

Nice camping and sites close have been suggested. A little further out- Palo Duro State Park

"Trail between the lakes"..... hiking trail between rayburn and toledo. 26 miles of beautiful terrain. You get the piney woods, hard woods, bottom lands, rolling hills, and beautiful scenery. Of corse all primitive camping along the way. Great 3 day 2 night easy trip.

Lost Maples in the hill country is very nice. That's about the extent of my knowledge for Texas camping, aside from Big Bend which is awesome and everyone should do at some point in their life.

Would be my suggestion. It's beautiful.

Big Bend but that's further than you wanna drive so I'd say Garner or maybe Choke Canyon area

I think we've narrowed it down to Garner, New Braunsfels River/Guadalupe region, and someone mentioned Sam Rayburn... Man, I love it on that lake out there. Definitely giving that one some thought to.
Keep them coming though, and add campsites, or trails, etc that y'all are familiar with each
ETA: forgot Pedernales...

Go camp at Ink's Lake state park and then day trip hike Enchanted Rock and then the other day longhorn cavern. When you go to longhorn cavern tell them you want the "corn puddin'"

or if you like canoeing and bass fishing go Big Thicket

I like the Vanderpool area . Check to see if the Bluebonnets are blooming . Lost Maples , Camp Verde , Lukenbach , Hondo , Medina are all the coolest .
