Mad Men has released the first trailer for its final round of episodes, beginning April 5, and as always, it offers images laden with symbolism and portent. Set to Diana Ross’ “Love Hangover” (symbolizing the fact that people on this show drink a lot), and employing the sort of classic TV box-wipes seen on The Brady Bunch (symbolizing that these characters form an unconventional, incestuous family), the mood of this spot is noticeably light and sunny, symbolizing how everything was just so much fun in the 1970s, by decree of Richard “Funboy” Nixon.

And Pete flashing some bedroom eyes at Peggy. Ah lawd.

It has been entirely too long and I think this will cost them viewers, but I can't wait!

I wondered this too. Obviously Pete has pretty well cut ties with Trudy and Peggy hasn't gotten serious with anyone. I'm not sure how I feel about them potentially together at this point.

If we're doing some 'shipping I was hoping she'd eventually end up with Stan.

Jesus, Finally.

I don't know how long it has been, but it feels like it's been 2 years since the last new episode. Just finish the series already. I've watched this show for too long to give up now.

That song was released in the mid-70's. I wonder if they plan on jumping ahead that far.

I just splooged. I'm really interested if they are making a jump. Technically it's still midseason. And it's cheating if Don just gets out of his current spot with a time jump.

AMC totally fricked up. Mad Men is not like Breaking Bad. People will forget how much they loved the show. The last scene was a dead dude dancing in a fricking day dream. Not exactly a cliffhanger.

Vulture.com compared the attire in the promo shots to a Cosmo cover from 1972. So I'm assuming it's probably at least that.

Never thought rog would breakdown and go for the sideburns...he needs to lay off the LSD

His daughter at the commune was such a weird arse storyline. I thought draper was totally gonna tap that whenever she first showed up. She was drooling all over Draper in her first appearance, nothing ever came of it tho

Wasn't she a senior in HS at the time. That would be just too damn weird.

So how long has it actually been? I'm so perplexed by the length of time between these seasons.

Moon landing (1969) happens in the final episode of last season, so three years
