Dude in the parade hit his head on a power line and got electrocuted (ended up surviving). Crowd sees this and everyone starts running.

Can you imagine how terrible the stampede must be for 16 people to die? Unimaginable.

Can you imagine watching Mardi Gras and this happening to you? Terrible way to go out.

Eta: am I allowed to post the video of the guy hitting his head on the power line, or the aftermath of the stampede?

When I saw that video from Bourbon a year or two ago when that guy fired his gun in that crowd I knew I'd never willingly be in a crowd like that again.

I've been in 2 situations in my life where the crowd dictated my movements and I was absolutely powerless. Very scary feeling if anyone here can relate.

Yes. Leaving Oak Mountain Ampitheater after Phish this summer. Packed in like tuna and feeling like you were being herded. Then again crossing the bridge to the parking lot, people were setting off large scale fireworks in the crowd. The first one sounde like a gun shot and I thought people would start running. Terrible anxiety.
