What's wrong with the basketball team?

What is wrong with this basketball team? They look fantastic at times and then it looks like the bottom falls out. Is it coaching? Is it the players not working together? I hoe they can turn it around for the tournament, but will they even get invited?

it mostly comes down to coaching. We have the talent to be a top 25 team. But Jones is horrible about managing games. I suspect we would have only 4 losses and possibly a win over Kentucky if Jones actually knows how to manage games, and call plays out of timeouts.

We play with 4 forwards and a dribble specialist

They play to the level of their competition & find a way to lose in the end.

-poorly coached/taught
-zero fundamentals, suck at all the basic facets of the game
-no sense of urgency
-no legitimate threat in the low post to throw it to on the block when the game gets stagnated
- good individual pieces but not a well oil machine
- no leadership, frontcourt depth is bare bones.
- defensively inconsistent at best

I'll tell you whats wrong...everything except talent. Watching this team brings back memories of the Dale Brown era. JJ learned well.
I was watching that YouTube of CJ making 102/104 shots from just inside of the 3 pt line. That led to another one where CJ scored ~50 and was playing with Stanley Roberts and Shaq. I poured a Dewars after that and watched the end of tonights game.

they are a young team.
with the one and done's, you do not get high end talent to stay 4 or 5 years and learn to play together, to learn many approaches.
The guards are not up to what I see from top "mid-majors" on TV.
The big men are very very good.
If you can keep this group together for two more years and add the special talents coming in and keep them the two years, you would then to be able to assess the coaching.
Remember, you cannot make them practice much.
The good piece is that they get to work on elements of the game under supervision during the off season. That only matters if they do not run off to the pro leagues.
The guards on this team will be eaten up for lunch by most of the teams they are looking at in the ESPN and CBS brackets.
i swear, I saw better guard play on high school teams.
These guys may need a psychiatrist, not a coach. maybe they have big head disease. We shall see. NIT would do them a lot of good.
more practice time, maybe even win it.
Let's say they get a NCAA 12 seed. They would be playing Butler or Wichita st.
