Tickfaw will be turning tricks in that abandoned warehouse on Crawford Street since he got out the ticket scalping game at the worst time possible

Looks like Castro is poised for a huge year. his poster on the outside of the stadium is enormous.

I'm pumped.
I'm mostly interested in seeing how Colin Moran and Mark Appel look this spring.
Trading off Rio means they are thinking (or hoping) Moran is the 3rd baseman of the future. Hopefully he is close enough to be a mid season call-up and be the solid OBP guy with limited K's that we need in this lineup.
And then Mark Appel for obvious reasons. When he was drafted, we were hoping he was advanced enough to break the 2015 spring training with a rotation spot. With all the crap he dealt with in the minors between injuries/surgeries and just flat out sucking, many are still projecting him to be called up later this season. If that happens, all of that BS he went through would have only delayed him a few months.

I'm guessing theres no chance Moran makes the club out of ST. I'm unsure if he's projected to go to AA or AAA but if he does well in the minors, I could see trading Valbuena and calling him up. If Appel can get off to a good start, I could see calling him up for the #5 spot. Much to Jarred Cosart's chagrin.
ETA: I'm supporting Appel, I hope he works out. But damn it would have been nice to have Kris Bryant breaking the glass over the Crawford Boxes.

I think Moran will spend most of the year in AAA if not all of it. Appel has a great chance to make it to Houston before the all star break if he continues to improve.

Best chance for midseason callups in no particular order
1. The pitchers in the running for spots that don't win the job (Alex white, Wojo, Deduno, etc.)
2. Peacock (when he gets off the DL)
3. Domingo/Hoes/Grossman
4. Torreyes
5. Appel
6. Moran
7. Stassi
ETA: and that's barring a monster season from a guy like Aplin, Tucker or Duffy

Thinking about Bryant at 3B for us with this lineup is terrifying as far as righthanded power, who knows how it would have shaken out though and what deals we might have done differently
I've said it before, I don't think Appel is going to be a front line ace, but I think he could be a solid mid rotation guy

Agreed. I think the plan is to start him off this season at AAA.

That's what I am hoping. Ever since his promotion last season, Appel has pitched pretty well. He may not be the ace we were hoping for when he was selected but, even if he turns out to be a solid #2 or #3, that will still be an very valuable asset.
Imagine if he gets called up this season and pitches equivalent to a solid #3 starter (reasonable expectation - maybe even too low). Then the Astros sign an ace next offseason and enter next season with a rotation of a true #1, Dallas, Jabroni, Appel, Feldman. That rotation, combined with what we expect to be a very good bullpen starting this season, would have us right on the timeline of "the plan" to have us competing for playoffs by next season.

Jordan Zimmerman next year, yes please

Anyone brave enough to go out on a limb and predict playoffs this season?
I am just hoping the Stros finish near .500 this season, give or take a few games.

For sure. I'll go with 76-86 as my prediction though.
