He has cut Ohio State, leaving Kansas, UK, NC State, LSU and the Mississippi schools on his radar. Everyone has been saying UK for a while now but this is definitely not a bad sign.

Dad played at State

HS coach played at Ole Miss

Would love to have him but I think it's gonna be State or UK.

I still think he is big on Kentucky, but the LSU vs UK game had to at least keep us/put us on the radar.crowd was electric.

No doubt Kentucky looks like the front runner for Newman, but I'll take what I can get at this point. At least we're not out of the discussion yet. Simmons/Blakeney have to be a big factor as well.

I'm feeling Kansas like Wiggins but base that off nothing substantial. Would be epic if he picked LSU. Watched him the other day, looks like the real deal.

From what I've heard, if the Harrisons go pro then he's probably headed to KY. If not then Kansas is favorite with Ole Miss having a chance. He definitely plans on being a one and done guy and I don't think State has a shot.

If we were to land Newman, would that send Blakeney to the bench or do we just go with a smaller lineup assuming M&M both leave?

Jalyn Patterson (6'0")
Malik Newman (6'3")
Keith Hornsby (6'4")
Antonio Blakeney (6'4")
Ben Simmons (6'9")

Obviously that lineup doesn't make much sense position wise, but hard to argue that those wouldn't be the most talented guys on the roster next season.

Zero chance we go with that lineup, we would have at least one post guy in the lineup with Victor and possibly Elbert. If M&M leave and we get Newman it would probably be:

Newman
Blakeney
Simmons
Victor
Robinson

if no newman then it would probably be something like
Quartermann
Blakeney
Simmons
Victor
Robinson

Lets not forget, Blakeney still has not put his name on the dotted line...I'm still hearing rumors that he may flip

Hornsby doesn't fit with our starters next season if Blakeney is there. Both are off guards, we need a point guard in the lineup and Quarterman is the closest thing we have to a quality point guard.

Hornsby will be a senior next year, is one of the hardest working players we have, and has the perfect skill set for a Johnny Jones team. He will not lose his starting job. He leads the team (tied with Mickey) in minutes played per game at 35.4. He's 3rd in scoring behind M&M meaning he would be our leading returning scorer next season. He's 3rd in assists, 1st in steals, and 1st in 3 point percentage at nearly 38%.

Also, Jayln Patterson may very well start at point next season. He's getting better and better each game.

For some reason everyone thinks Hornsby has no shot at starting over blakeney. As a senior who has been on the team for 3 years he defiantly has the upper edge

Too much talent is a wonderful problem to have.

Mickey, I know you are pretty wired in and I think your opinion holds a lot of weight here. Are you saying we are losing both Mickey and Martin next year????

Just my opinion but I would put Jordan Mickey at 90% to leave and Martin at 70% to leave right now.
