The gas tank is for a 97 yamaha.
The gas tanks are about $600 brand new and that isn't worth it. The tank is dry rotting and cracked. Is there anyway I can get it fixed and not have to buy a new one?

Online vendors are cheaper than brick and mortar.

Ebay has a lot of tanks. If it is not on today, it may be on tomorrow. I replaced an ATV tank for $5 from Ebay.

I know nothing about the subject, but couldn't you buy a used tank somewhere like a junkyard?

What a coincidence! I have a 97 Yamaha with no gas tank!

Go to a parts house and buy some sealant that can tolerate gas and oil.

Slather it on and keep riding.

You can pick up an aftermarket one or even one from a junked bike on Ebay pretty cheap.

You differently don't want to buy a gas tank from a junk yard or you'll soon be looking for a new carb and fuel pump as well.

Not much you can do that will hold and stand the vibration and impact of a dirt bike. Odds are it will leak. Do you really want gas to leak down on the header and catch the bike on fire?

As others have said, call around and check ebay. Look on craigslist as well. There are junk bikes all over the place, you just have to hunt for them.

It's an XT 225. I've looked on eBay and all around. They're very hard to find.

Leave as much gas in the tank as possible and start welding (no mask or gloves, will come out better).

The tank is made of plastic. And Mick, I was thinking of lighting the whole bike on fire and hoping it just fixed all the problems yesterday. Thanks for the advice. I'll be sure to try it.

I googled and the first one I found was on ebay for $230.

I don't know where you're getting this $600 for a plastic fuel tank thing...
