I just don't see what dishes at Chelseas are mind blowing

I don't think anything there is particularly "mind blowing", but it's a diverse menu and everything (I've had) is always pretty good. It's an eclectic restaurant that offers a variety of craft beer and live music as well. It's one of the few Baton Rouge restaurants that I go to when I'm in town.

Chelseas is fantastic. Everything made from scratch and they are one of the only casual (not ethnic) restaurants in BR that isn't just poboys and sandwiches and fried stuff.

Artichoke ravioli, various risotto dishes and pastas, sandwiches that arent the same ole, etc.

Louie's
Fleur de lis
Dearman's
Dempsey's
George's
Pastime
Ronnie's
Bergeron's
Jerry Lee's
Raul's
Akasha
AM Mart

Eh. Akasha.. AM Mart.. It's all to-go orders.

I don't know if Guy could critique/show the food at AM Mart with a straight face. I think he'd be confused about why he's in a gas station showing people put together deli sandwiches

Not saying those aren't good places or anything. Just doesn't seem to match the show.. Since they usually sit at the table and talk to patrons.

Fleur de lis fits the mild perfectly.

Completely forgot about it.

Would 100% be on the show.

The show has been to a few gas stations already. Why not AM Mart?

Really? I've never seen that on there.

AM Mart doesn't have a kitchen, so it just seems like it would be weird Not to count, they don't actually make anything themselves, so I'm not sure what they'd show "behind the scenes".. assembling a sandwich?

EDIT:

Yeah, I Googled. This isn't quite the same as watching people put bread and meat from a package together to make a sandwich.

It is definitely a dive, that is old, and has character. And they do one thing very well, and that is the pizza.

Solid choice.

Louie's for sure.

Please, get off of the Louie's thing. It is mediocre run of the mill bkfst food, and I love going to Louie's after a game or show and stuffing my face just as much as the next person. It doesnt offer anything special. The hashbrowns are the only thing unique and they are just potatoes.

I was watching a marathon of the show and Googled it & BR, nothing. Did the same with LA and got over a dozen places, almost all in NOLA, one in Slidell (same dif) and one in Hammond. If you look at the places listed here; Sonic, Applebee's, etc. The reality is, we have good food, not great food. Sonic and Applebee's fall into the "edible" category not good. Good would be Parrain's, Chimes, Sammy's Ralph's, City Pork etc. Louie's has great hash browns but what else on their menu is that good? Fleur De Lis has outstanding Pizza, but the service is so bad I haven't been there in twenty years. With all the contributions good (mostly good) and bad we got from Katrina, not one great restaurant was one of them. Unless someone has a suggestion I haven't tried. Cleary anyone suggesting someplace like Sonic is automatically disqualified from this discussion. Po-boy Lloyd's has really good poboys, but nothing like the old Dooky's, Mahoney's or Parkway's Turkey poboys. Louie's hash browns and maybe hot Krispy Kremes are the only things I would drive from NOLA to eat. I must insist on "hot" Krispy Kremes. Hot out the fryer they're better than sex, cold its just another donut. I had 2 Aunts that would suggest food locations. One was medium build and most of her suggestions were cheap and "maybe" edible. The other was a heavyweight diabetic who lost a leg because she refused to eat plain foods. That's the one I would listen to about food and the one who would get the "hot" Krispy Kreme thing.
