I'm really unsure what to think of this movie. I'm going to see it regardless, but do you think it will be closer to District 9 or Elysium in terms of quality?

I'm optimistic because it has legitimate themes, our relationship with technology (I know, been done a million times before) and the singularity. It's already off to a better start than Elysium (rich people are evil hurrrr).

Id have to read a lot about it not being another District 9. While I didn't hate D9...I didn't enjoy it either.

I think it looks awesome. I loved District 9, and I'm very excited for this movie.

Marketing is killing this movie. They have completely different ads for the same movie that are 100 percent different
The ones on TV make it look like a transformers ripoff. And I think that's quite the opposite from what they were going for

Completely agree. The movie theater trailer was very touching. The commercial is godawful.

The ad I saw looked like a mix of A.I. & I Robot cast with a leftover droid from Elysium. Not that I won't watch it, I just wish he would've maybe skipped these last couple and made a sequel to 9.

Blompkamp is a very talented filmmaker but he definitely does lack subtlety with his social commentary.

As a big fan of District 9 it has my attention. I think I'll probably see it in the theater unless it gets horrible reviews.
