The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame announced its finalists for the class of 2015 on Saturday. Current Kentucky Wildcats coach John Calipari and former NBA big man Dikembe Mutombo were among the 12 finalists of potential inductees.

Joining them will be Leta Andrews (coach), Dick Bavetta (referee), Bill Fitch (coach), Tim Hardaway (player), Spencer Haywood (player), Robert Hughes (coach), Kevin Johnson (player), Lisa Leslie (player), Bo Ryan (coach) and Jojo White (player).

Finalists will need at least 18 of 24 votes from the Honors Committee to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in August. The entire class will be announced April 6 prior to the NCAA men's championship game in Indianapolis.

Louie Dampier (ABA committee), Lindsay Gaze (international committee), Tom Heinsohn (veterans committee), John Isaacs (early African pioneers committee) and George Raveling (contributor committee) were among the direct-elected members announced for the 2015 class.

Congrats to UK's Louie Dampier for the direct vote. Hope Cal can get in and glad he's being considered.

Eddie Sutton deserves in before Cal. I do not think there is a real way to even argue that if you look at entirety of the careers.

Will have to respectfully disagree.

You feel the same way about Bo Ryan too?

Cal's been to more Final Fours at Kentucky than Sutton did in his entire career.

They both should be locks imo

Yup

I do

I do not think any active coach should be enshrined.

And Eddie has 2 final 4's at 2 separate schools 4 separate schools in NCAAT over 600 wins

He rebuilt 3 programs

Cal will get in but should not now, as he has not even began to slow down.

I don't know whether Bo Ryan deserves to be in this round, but he has a career record of 726-226 (.763) with four national championships at the Division III level and the highest winning percentage in B1G history.

Why? That seems like poor logic if active coaches have achieved more than their predecessors who are in the HOF.

FWIW, I don't have any problem with Ryan getting in. It would be silly for him not too for the reasons you said (as well as his history at Wisky).

I just know that Cal is particularly polarizing given what happened at UMass and Memphis. I just don't see anyone asking to retroactively remove guys like John Wooden for worse.

So you get in HOF then you're found to have cheated or broken rules?

So we should put Mike McCarthy in HOF because he's won aSB but Bud Grant didn't?

One of the greatest coaches in college basketball history bought his team for decades.

That doesn't lessen his coaching ability.

And you're advocating for Eddie Sutton when he cheated his arse off at Kentucky while saying that.

If this was Bobby Knight instead of Cal you would be bitching fake outrage.

I am just saying you don't get in HOF until retired.

Eddie cheated? It left the FedEx station one weight sealed and showed up in Texas a different weight opened.

You want to talk ACT things about Sean, sure go ahead but let's not forget that Cal Memphis teams were under same suspicion.
Derrick Rose ring a bell?

Why would I be against Bobby Knight getting into the HOF when he won a championship, had multiple Final Fours, is a huge cornerstone of a major college program, and had one of 7 undefeated college teams (and damn near had another)?

I think he's a giant frickstick but why would that change whether he gets into the HOF?

Your assumptions are shitty.

No you get on your soapbox and whine soon as someone complains about UK or mentions Cal.

You have a history.

About as much as Calipari. I'm just calling you out for trying to play the integrity card when Sutton was as responsible as Cal at this point for cheating.

You're the one accusing me of some false assumption.

Who gives a shite if I have a history of defending UK or a coach? You think I'm alone in defending the school I root for or the coach at that school? Do you even message board bro?
