Shea is from Toledo, Ohio and he grew up Michigan fan, even though most of his family liked Ohio State. To me that means that he loves going against the grain. I grew up around a lot of people with that mentality. You know the type, they feel like their choices are unique because it's different. The type to get joy from disagreeing with anyone that pulls for anything home based or popular in that time and era. He hasn't lived in Ohio since he was 12, and has only been here for 2 years. I am willing to bet that the Patterson family isn't too fond of LSU since January 7, 2008 (38 - 24). Think about it.....

They've disliked us ever since we offered Franks. Nothing to do with a game 7 years ago. They took that as a slight. I say frick em.

Then why would their son go to LSU to coach?

And why would they praise Cameron as much as they have?

They seemed super stoked and happy about their visits to LSU to see him.

I just do not see the good in bashing him or their family the week and day of his commitment. It's just ridiculously immature and bitter to me.. at least wait because you still just never know. Minds can change all the time, but if I saw a fan base already blasting my family I think that would absolutely end any possible thoughts of changing my mind.

He seems to have a very genuine family and a close relationship. Something LSU is preaching to all their recruits.

The comment related to the NC game was more for laughs, but I know if the tables were turned l'd hold that grudge. Just like I would if it were a team that beat LSU 4 years ago in the National Championship game. The discontent is REAL...I'm still waiting on vengeance.

Did Franks not show really well at the LSU camp last year and was the consensus of opinion at that time that Franks had a better camp than Patterson?

Might be a good time for some of you to read this story by Jimmy D from way back in September:

Highly touted QB Shea Patterson's father was moved by experience at LSU opener

It's a message board and not just an LSU issue. He'd be bashed by Rebs if he chose LSU or USC.
