I think I've narrowed it down to the Hustler Raptor with the Kawasaki engine, or the Bad Boy also with the Kawi. I refuse to buy anything that doesn't have either a Honda or Kawi engine. I've had horrible luck with Briggs and Kohler. Anyway, does anyone have any experience with the aforementioned ztr's?

K&D is the local dealer. Not going there. Gautreauxs in Gonzales dropped the line, apparently.

I bought a 48" Hustler from Pro-Power in BR and could not be more happy. The mower is a beast and for the money cant be beat. It has a Kawasaki FR691V motor and the foot pedal deck lift. Yard is right at 2 acres and it is perfect. FYI - what ever you decide, make sure you get a Kawasaki motor.

Don't want to argue about Honda, just ask anyone in the commercial lawn business - Kawasaki motors for ZTR mowers are the only option.

I beg to differ. Have had a Kohler 21hp for 6 years now. no problems. of course it is well taken care of. Its called preventative maintenance.

Fair enough. I'm not in the commercial end. Just have had Honda engines on all kinds of things from crawfish boats to generators and love them.

I meant Gautreauxs dropped Big Dog, that was a reply to Chad.

I'm going to decide between the bad boy and hustler next week. I'll probably purchase from ProPower since they are the closest to me for service. I'll check Gautreauxs for price though.

Honda not longer makes engines for ZTR's. The old Hustler Fastraks with Honda were great. Honda makes replacement engine for those machines but no longer makes engines to be but on new riding mowers

I'm lucky to have ethanol free fuel close by. I've cleaned that crap before, never again.
