Tiger Woods is taking an indefinite leave from golf, saying that he needs "a lot of work on my game."

Woods made the announcement Wednesday with a statement on his website.

"Right now, I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me," he said. "My play, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I've said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I'm ready, I'll be back."

Doesn't matter what people think about him, he's important to the game and needs to be back

Was just coming here to post that.

Tiger Stepping Away

And while golf doesn't need Tiger like it once did, be prepared for Master's ratings to be down.

The bad part is that he'll have so much pressure when he returns that it'll be such a spectacle that it won't make things any easier for him.

Love him or hate him, sad to see a great talent end his career like this.

Just now saw that. Edited. Doubt he returns that early though.

Not according to him….

quote:

I'd like to play The Honda Classic -- it's a tournament in my hometown and it's important to me -- but I won't be there unless my game is tournament-ready. That's not fair to anyone. I do, however, expect to be playing again very soon.

Find it interesting he mentions his game, not his back injury.

I don't think his back was injured, just tight. Playing with a tight back is miserable. That being said, I usually loosen it up with a buncha miller lite

All he said was the injury last weekend didn't have anything to do with his recent surgery.

This latest injury is not related to my previous surgery. I am having daily physical therapy and I am feeling better every day.

hope he makes it back and wins a major.

don't care for him off the course, but the opportunity to see all of the haters get upset would be fun.

He needs to get rid of the swing coaches, watch some video from 2000, embrace the KISS theory, and spend hours on the range by himself digging it out of the dirt. I'm not ready to write him off, but unless he makes major changes the Fat Lady will start singing instead of warming up.
