Would it be too late for some of our better players to do short term loans in Europe? Does the closing of the transfer window apply to every league over there?

Does soccer in the U.S. ever recover in our lifetimes is m question. The whole U.S. soccer world is very tenuous (above the youth level) as it is.

They are NOT striking. No fricking way. Players know they will frick themselves for good if they do and where the hell are they going to play? A handful can go to Europe....in August when the windows open up. The rest of the rank and file? NASL, Central America? Please, this just lots of bluster going on. They will be playing March 6.

If the MLS goes on strike, the players should be called into a national team camp.

We say that every work stoppage for every sport. NFL had a pretty nasty one and that did what? Not a damn thing. There is enough demand for a soccer game to take place in a professional setting in America.

This is an apples and dump trucks comparison.

Hockey should've been dead several times now.

I hope they don't strike, though.

MLS is 100 years behind the NFL.

There is more interest in the NFL draft than MLS. I love soccer and can't wait for the MLS to come to Georgia, but that's just the way it is.

The MLS will be fricked if they go on strike and it will set the league back years.

but this was bound to happen with the franchise model

it just does not work with world soccer.

The MLS has out grow the structure it was built on

It may not "kill" soccer in the US, but it would for sure kill the momentum that it has been gaining. Or maybe we could all be scabs and get our MLS on.

I think MLS fans are mostly real fans of the sport and won't be put off by a strike.
And they will side with the players if the players have a legit beef.

It's not that similar to strikes in sports where the league minimums are more than most people will make in 10 years.

Plus, MLS fans are liberals and liberals love strikes.

this won't be about the fans

a strike would kill the image of the league to players from around the world.

work stoppages don't happen in the world game

Yeah but bounced checks and not getting paid are quite the staple in a lot of leagues in the world.

not any league with aspirations of being a top 5 league

this isn't russia where we pay our players in cash or under the table
