LINK I'm a little surprised that Jimmy thinks Caleb Roddy is that good. I think he may get an offer over the summer though.

The whole point is how could anyone with those accolades not be in the state top 50 regardless of his name.

It's not as uncommon as you would think. That being said, I know nothing about the kid, but I remember a few years ago LA's Mr. Football was Blake Matherne from Belle Chasse who ended up going to Nicholls and never even played a down for them. Some guys are great HS kids, doesn't mean they always project at the next level.

You know what's more common? The number of kids without the accolades as Lindsey Scott, who rankings and websites have hyped up, and who turn out to never bust a grape in college. Look at the top 100 on most sites from 2009-13. Statistically this Shite is usually wrong.

Question is valid. How in the heck is a junior QB, an state MVP in Louisiana 5A (arguably our most competitive class), not a top 50 player. SAD thing is that people that don't really follow high school FB, read this stuff, and believe it.

Kid doesn't play 1A ball. Went head to with Brandon Harris in 2013 as a sophomore. Scored 4 TDs and almost pulled it out. It laughable that there are 50 better football players in the state than him.

Lastly, prior to his arrival ar Zachary, the team was not considered a "contender". Qtr finals in 2013 (a school 1st), semi-finals in 2014 (a school 1st), losing by acadiana 9-3. Sad.

Blake Matherne ended up at Nicholls because he didn't have grades to get in most other places, he never played a down here because he never got qualified academically, not because he wasn't talented or was just a good high school player.

Right. Agreed. District MVP. Metro MVP. All state MVP. Nola All metro. LWSA and LFCA All-State teams. Not top 50????

Wow, did not know that. That's pretty sad if you can't get a 2.0 and a 18 on the ACT (it might even be lower than that).

Where does Scott project in college? When everyone is healthy, where does he stand for one of, if not the most loaded QB class in the history of Louisiana? How many camps did he go to the last 2 years? How did he do in those camps? Any MVPs of those camps? I'm not against the kid, these are just questions.

There are tons of kids that are outstanding high school players that receive accolades, but aren't highly recruited. Conversely, every year kids fly under the radar and really blossom. Best wishes to him.

Found a camp Scott went to in Houston in April 2014. He's listed at 5'10" 185. No results posted for him, no SPARQ rating listed either. Why?

Hudl

He lists himself at 6'0" and 205 on hudl. Like I said earlier I am not sayin he should be LSU #1 recruit but he ought to make the states top 50 hands down.

I hope this kid embarrasses the shite out of these recruiting gurus.

2" and 20 pounds over the Summer isn't out of the question. I'd lean more towards the Nike camp that measures over Hudl that does not. Hopefully he goes to some more camps and blows up

Kid is a 16 year old Jr. One site shows his birthday 6/11/98. Still growing. some of QBs in discussion on this board have already turned 18.

Rivals measured him at 5'11 197 in the New Orleans camp.

Its one thing to say you dont think he's a LSU recruit. But do we honestly believe that every kid on the NOLA Nifty 50 list is?

Its funny how these day, we are quick to bring up "Camps". Hell anyone can perform at a camp (in shorts and pads). Thats the problem with recruiting these days. We sign too many "camp kids". Not enough football players. People who can do it when the lights come on.

Thats where your talent as a recruiter and an analysts really shows.

This list is a college prospect list not a top high school player list. I love LSJ's game, but it's not fair to anyone if I put him on this list. Each guy ahead of him on this list will obtain bigger offers than him. Sad but true.

Jay Tyler at Newman had zero offers on the table until Stanford came in late January to pull the trigger as a slot receiver. His numbers dwarfed Lindsey's best year. I've been fighting with colleges about LSJ longer than anyone so I take it personal when you act as if him not being on my list is a disservice to the kid. When someone calls as many schools as I have for the kid then they can complain.

- where does he project? Being recruited at QB. Visited by quite a few schools this past month.

- who wasn't healthy (other than Jon Randall Belton)? I like JRB a lot. but everyone else (who have garnered recognition in this class) were healthy.

camps - Attended Texas, UH, Miss State, La. Tech camps. His twitter line shows that he's been invited to the Elite 11 this year.

"Under the radar" - I'd say that this kid is under the radar. It appears that he produces when the lights come on. Thats all you can do. College coaches dont care about rivals or nike camps. that stuff is for subscribers.

Lets keep it real, we'd rather pump up a 6'5 kid who hasn't done "shite". Hoping that he turns out in college. @ 5'11 - 6'0" we have to wonder what this kid "translates to". If this kid were 6'2", 5A MVP, he'd be on this list.

Sounds like you know why he's not listed. With a family member in the same mold, trust me I hope he succeeds. Height seems to be extremely overvalued by college coaches. Russell Wilson and Drew Brees seem to do OK.
