Battery, alternator, or wires?

Truck was dead this morning when I went to start it. My buddy moved it yesterday and failed to tell me that the battery was low, but I started and drove it twice for 15 minutes last night with no problems. This morning, it tried to start, but didn't have enough juice. I am guessing the battery went completely dead because it took about 15 minutes connected to another truck to have enough juice to start (wouldn't work on a jump box). I did also notice that my amp stayed on for some reason last night.

So after I jump it off, my battery gauge on the cluster is fluctuating between 10 and 14v. Cool, I'm thinking it was the alternator not charging the battery then. So I put a voltmeter on the battery with it running, and it is charging at a constant 13.6v. It did fluctuate initially, but stabilized after a minute or two, and hasn't moved off of 13.6v. Was the dead battery sucking all of the juice out of the alternator initially?

Brought it to Autozone, and they said both were good. Is there a chance my alternator intermittently stops working, and just randomly performed fine at Autozone? I was under the impression that they either work or not, and it wouldn't be steady if it was bad.

Should I start looking at wiring?

Truck has been running for 20 minutes now and hasn't killed yet. No other problems before last night/today

I'm gonna head to NAPA and get them to test it. Otherwise, I've got to break out the GD multimeter and chase down a fricking electrical problem

The vehicle won't run if the alternator isn't working.

If it is running, crawl under the truck, and check the connection where the ground cable connects to the engine block.

Well, NAPA said they were both good, so I've got some fun work ahead finding an electrical drain I guess

I would start my search here. If the battery and alternator test good, this is likely to be your where your drain is coming from.

For the love of everything, don't unhook your battery while the vehicle is running.

yeah,i'm sick of seeing people post stupid stuff like that regarding how to check shite out on your vehicle.
I'm sure it's a story his paw paw told him like 20 years ago.
You never remove any wires on a computer controlled vehicle while its running.

NEVER

I'm just gonna stick it on the charger overnight for a few days because I don't have time to work on it. I did notice some alternator whine through the tweeters driving around today, so maybe the remote and + wires are touching now for some reason. Never did that before, so I don't suspect the bolted down ground wire to be the culprit

Eta: It's only one LED too

Pull the fuse on the amp for a few days and see if the problem goes away.

I'd do that before I spent hours hunting down a short.
