The amount of talent in-state in Louisiana is insane this year. I just used the LSU class calculator--I kept all five commits we have now and then added the top 20 recruits in LA (skipping Shea Patterson and adding Bladrick Veal in his place. Cole Kelly would be almost the exact same score, too) and it came out to 303.51 for a 25 man class, and it looks like our class will be larger than 25.

I know this isnt how recruiting works--we don't need 4 RBs in this class and we'll go after plenty of OOS players, but this is just a way to look at the in-state talent and see how incredible it is.

He ought to make the all-name team next year.

The other SEC fans on the SEC Rant tell me that it is stupid for LSU fans to care as much as we do about keeping the fence up - even though LSU's recent success started when Dinardo went hard after Louisiana players and Saban made his career off of it.

Of course they don't want LSU to care about instate talent.

Personally, I'd rather have 75% of each class be in state guys with some guys from Texas, Mississippi, Georgia, and Florida thrown in. You can't ignore a Jamal Adams or a Patrick Peterson, obviously. But, overall, I'd go with in state guys if the players were even.

For sure. LSU always gets the awesome-named guys.

I would too. Guys in-state are easier to tie down anyway. Essentially, I like how Les does it. He makes a must-have list and then works down from that, having a realistic perspective of whether he's more likely to pull a 5-star from Wisconsin or a four-star from Kentwood.

Not possible to keep everyone. We will get our share and get out of state top players as well.

Tennessee, ALabama, Colorado, Miami, FLorida St, and probably more all won NCs with key players from Louisiana. Of course other schools don't want us to focus on keeping kids in state.

you can't consistently get the nos. you need at most positions from instate. look at 2015, we got no lbs and no dts. when is the last time we got an instate qb.

There are some in-state LBs and DTs, but yes, that's what I said at the end of my post--I know we don't need four RBs. The point was just to show how deep we are.

LSU should try to get the best players nationally regardless of how many of them are from Louisiana.

Building positive relationships with the loca HS coaches will go a long way. Miles needs to make personal visits to NLa schools. Sending the assistants is fine, but the head man needs a presence too.

The issue is not getting all of the LA players but the ones we really need. The big melts have been when the ones we really needed went elsewhere. Sorry, but fans in that case will take it as a snub every time...

The difference is that Louisianians take great pride in our State. We love our kids who want to play in and represent The Boot because they share the same deep pride as us. thats why the fence is important. We want to support OUR kids. Plain and simple.
