Leander comes out firing here.

I think, ultimately, Jurgen has taken the program a step forward, but his constant condescending remarks are getting a tad ridiculous.

quote:

The problem with how Klinsmann frames the debate, however, is that he casts it as a fight between right and wrong. He is right; everyone else is wrong.

While he hardly has the results to go around criticizing other people, Klinsmann has consistently gone after his own players, denigrated America’s nascent soccer culture, taken swipes at the program—and, by inference, his predecessors—and refused to quit blasting Major League Soccer, which now employs the vast majority of his team. In the fall, MLS Commissioner Don Garber justifiably grew fed up and fired back.

Hating on Jurgy is hip these days, especially with the media. American sports media tend to focus on sacred cows and don't like it when someone doesn't give a shite about those sacred cows. We do have to change the soccer culture period. Sure the Germanic condescension can be quite infuriating to deal with, but we are not going to get anywhere without ruffling a lot of feathers. We have the best athletes in the world and we are not winning as a country. I'd rather have someone try to shake up the works then someone who will cynically maneuver without really making a dent.

Sure, but is shitting on everybody involved the best way to go about it?

How does ruffling your domestic league's feathers help your cause?

Landycakes is the sacred cow. MLS is not deep enough due to financial model it employs. That itself doesn't help competition and Jurgy hates that. I agree with MLS growing slowly, but also agree that MLS needs to step it up. The soccer culture Is going nowhere and sometimes you have to blow it up.

Has absolutely nothing to do with this.

He's retired brah, old news. Not sure why you are bringing him up or what point you are making there.

Yet the bulk of the team we sent to Brazil is now plying it's trade in the MLS.

Makes that domestic purposely go out and sign... how many from the summer team? All to spite him.

haha we'll show you Jurgy. All of your Euro players will be playing here!

I'm just making up crap of course.

Jurgy is going to Jurgy. I'm going to ignore his comments because, who cares as long as the team and the system does improve? I might care about these comments in 4 years

How much do you actually know about MLS, or do you just repeat the anti-MLS crowd because it's easy? As Broski pointed out, almost the entire freaking national team plays here now.

This article takes a position almost in counterpoint to the article from Leander. Just happened to read it earlier today and thought it would be good to post in this thread. I can't copy and paste because I'm on my phone and it's hard so you assholes will have to read it for yourselves

Dirk Nowitzki must have missed the memo that being German means you shite all over everything to get it to improve.

thats flat out false and you cant possibly be paying attention if you believe such a notion.

We should all take jurgens comments to heart and every time anyone sees him in public, we should tell him how much he sucks. That's what he wants out of this country. I say we do it.

Ironically, we were one of the most fit teams before Jurgen and then we saw our team not fit in the games that mattered most this past summer.

I remember you were the one person on here that was kind of unhappy with the signing. Coincidentally, you were the only one with prolonged exposure to his coaching.

We knew what the weather would be like. That is the stupidest excuse. Just fricking google the weather to see how shitty it will probably be.

Jurgen decided to have camp in Palo Alto and not in a hotter and more humid climate.

The team was not prepared for the climate. Whose fault was that?

We knew it would be hot and humid.
