I need to hire a new employee and see there are lots out there. I'm not placing ads on all of them for cost reasons. Is there any of them that are maybe better than others in your opinion? Is there a website where prospective employees can post resumes/contact info and I can search through them and reach out to people I'm interested in? TIA

Job is a general labor type job and located in BR fwiw.

I had a MD swear to me that he finds the best employees on craigslist. I looked at him with a dumbfounded stare and he said "I know you don't believe me but it's where I've had the most success." This doc was located in Monroe so take it for what it's worth.

Try indeed or a local paper?

If you have something specific to your industry then try that. I work in the timber industry and the Hardwoods Lumber Association has a portion if their website dedicated to just jobs.

Indeed is like a catch all though.

We use LSU career services. It's free and you get students but also graduates that have been out in the real world for a couple of years. I also do an intern program through LSU as well. I pay the students and they get credit hours for the work. I have hired some of them to full time status.

For a laborer I'd consider using a temp labor staffing agency. If you like the first guy they send you, great. If you don't, they will send a different one next time.

It's also good if you have fluctuations in your need for the laborer. We've found and hired several helpers this way. Most places don't have any fee for hiring their employees either.

You're lucky you're not up here. I've been trying to hire since November. My bank told me that they've been trying to fill a position for over a year.

Full employment. Kind of. Not the place for a political discussion or I would speak some truth about how it really is. Or at least how I see it.
