There’s a reason Hollywood at large shares The Academy’s problem with strong black characters, said Oyelowo: “White guilt.”

If you don't have the stomach to read the article, Oyelowo is basically butthurt about not being nominated for an oscar. Says the academy refuses to give an oscar to a black man who plays a non-subservient character in a film.

I never saw Selma, but this seems pretty arrogant.

Well, he certainly isn't winning one now.

Denzel Washington, Jaime Fox, Sidney Poitier, and Forest Whitaker.

Let alone 12 Years a Slave winning best picture and Selma being nominated.

What an idiot

He claimed that "white guilt" was responsible for him not getting an award.

His logic doesn't make any sense to me. Wouldn't white guilt be a contributing factor for black actors getting nominations? Anyway, the dude sounds like a prick.

I think he has a legitimate gripe. He was brilliant in the movie. One of the bigger snubs in recent memory.

Then they must also be racist against white people for fricking over Jake Gyllenhaal two straight years.

You agree with him that white guilt is the reason he didn't get nominated??? that argument makes no sense. If white guilt were involved don't you think he would have been nominated?

Neither the dumbass actor nor you understands what "white guilt" means, obviously.

Hopefully, the titty bitch doesn't get another part.

I thought they always gave Mahoney and Tackleberry special treatment.

I haven't seen the movie so I can't say whether he was snubbed on performance. But suggesting that he was snubbed because of white guilt is hilarious.

Let's talk about all the non-black actors who have been snubbed just on sheer Academy bias and then get back to me.

Exactly.
White guilt is the opposite of blacks not getting Oscars. See Jamie Foxx's win.

No, I don't agree with that argument. I agree with him having a gripe over not getting nominated. He did a brilliant job in a difficult character.

I don't care about the supposed racial aspect of it. I didn't see all the roles nominated for Best Actor, but I thought he did a better job than Bradley Cooper and Steve Carrell, the other two I did see. I also think Ralph Fiennes was snubbed for his role in The Grand Budapest Hotel.
