This week, the PGA Tour moves to San Diego, CA for the 2015 Farmer's Insurance Open at the beautiful Torrey Pines Golf Club (South Course). There is much to be excited about this week, with a very strong field including Tiger and Phil trying to knock off the rust, and the return of Justin Rose who is making his 2015 start.

Also returning from a prolonged hiatus is Dustin Johnson, who has come under public scrutiny as rumors flourished in his absence.

Jimmy Walker and Bill Haas will look to become the first two-time winners of the 2015 season. Both lead this strong field as early contenders, and Jimmy Walker hopes to extend his FedEx Cup points lead.

Who will punch their ticket to the Masters this year? Only Sunday will tell as we get ready for this years Farmer's Insurance Open!

EVENT DETAILS:

Purse: $6,300,000
Winning Share: $1,134,000
FedEx Cup points: 500

My favorite to win is Patrick Reed.

ETA: it would help if he played the tournament.

Yea I've got a feeling he would do well. I'm looking out for Justin Rose this week. This course suits his game IMO and he's well refreshed from the break.

ETA: damn I didn't realize he wasn't playing

If Mickleson is playing I will take him, as I believe it is his home course.

Quick questions, as I do not know. Do you have to be a registered member of a course/club to play in a PGA event?

Also, who pays the entry fees for each golfer? As I know there probably has to be one to hold a tournament.

No, a tour card gets you access to pretty much all courses except Augusta National

Either the golfer or a sponsor. Trying to play professional golf is not only extremely challenging, it is also incredibly expensive.

I thought it would be as that is why I asked about entry fees. It amazes me how people do not understand that people have to pay for play.

Who pays for the Amatuers entry fees, such as Rahm's this last weekend?

Disclosure: I just like the discussing the "business" side of these things sometimes. As they are more interesting topics than the actual play is. Hopefully I am not dragging the thread or off topic too much.

Don't worry, it's all relative to the topic at hand.

Either the amateur themselves or a private sponsor will put the money up.

Many top amateurs, especially the young ones, have a "benefactor" that allows them to play in those tournaments.

Glad DJ is back. Thinking he won't finish well being off so long.

I made a comment earlier this year to a small group of friends that Tiger Woods would be winning several events this season. I had this event in mind as a possible win. I no longer think that Tiger has a chance anywhere that he is playing including this weekend's event.

This week, I am most interested in watching DJ's return. His swing is all about timing. Did it hold up during his time away?
