It doesnt change the fact that the drive to work has more deaths than actually being at work.

Meat
Management would love to hire the best and most qualified regardless of color or sex. That is out of their hands.
They spend to train and pay to retain the trained.
You seem like you didnt get the job a few times. Maybe you just werent as good as the other guy.

which state are you referring to when it comes to this numbers?

This would make me think all of them

quote:

U.S. petroleum refinery fatalities

quote:

2011-11 die deep water horizon

What does that have to do with refineries?

Plants are a VERY safe job when it comes to on the job deaths. People who think otherwise are sheep and/or ignorant

How many deaths (as sad and unfortunate as they are) were human factor related because the employees did not follow a lsr, procedure or escalate concerns?

Christ, I hope you aren't responsible for writing anything in those jobs you do.

TripleJ.... I'm 50% at getting one of these jobs. I was a contractor in my earlier years after my service to the government then tried for one these goldenrod ticket jobs. I struck out the first two the. Landed the third. They started to cut away benefits, so undecided to rollout and then landed another which happens to be a union plant.

First... Thanks for your service

Second... My plant hires a lot and promoties a lot of ex military

Third... Your government plays by the same demographic rules in military and obviously in every other department

Low oil prices are not good for Louisiana. smh at those celebrating it. Sasol just delayed progress on their GTL plant by Lake Chuck because of them. Bunch of potential jobs there not coming to fruition.
And that's exactly why OPEC has opened the spigots and driven the price down.

pretty sure that's not the reason. Many OTer's have proved this wrong (in almost all of the oil threads that have been on here recently)

I say hire the moist qualified and let's move on

Accept what is, and deal with it. The most qualified isn't always hired. That's today's PC world we live in.

The numbers are 4 yr time frame just in Texas alone was over 37 from 2005-2014. This board started out talking about the strike I do agree there is other deaths in other industries but ever one has a right to be safe when entering their work place. The numbers I gave for deep water is because we are talking about oil and gas industry and Bp owned the rig.

Why do people choose to attack people on a personal level? By the way I have a masters degree along with over 27 years in the industry what about you?

That's not true in the Baton Rouge Chemicals EM plant, the only one I know first hand.

Are you willing to go to work everyday to give America the products needed to live each day when you may not walk out alive? When you can answer yes to this question you are a true refinery worker.

God Almighty ... You have got to be a union rah rah mouthpiece spouting this bullshite ... Or a troll, or both. ... I have a 100X greater chance of getting splattered on the fricking interstate everyday in BR traffic than getting blown up in a refinery. ... Cannot believe people buy into this utter horse shite.
