He just didn't do it long enough. 4 years does not make a HOF career.

In the 'career cut short by injury' category, I nominate Sterling Sharpe.

Jerome Bettis-Close but Yes. He is the 6th all time leading rusher, but averaged only 3.9 YPC. Played 13 years mostly at a high level.

i'm of the opinion that if John Riggins is in the HOF Bettis should be too.

neither guy really ever had eye popping numbers.

Bettis was able to put up big yards in his career because he got a ton of carries.

In Bettis' last year, he was nothing but a goal-line/short-yardage back.

Sayers should most def be in.Hall of fame isnt hall of good for really long time. If you are the best of the best for a 3-4 year period and considered the best
..youre in the hof. The hof is suppose to be the best.
what hurts Davis more than injuries is all the no name backs that got 1000 yard seasons after him in denver.

And whoever daid jim kelly isnt a hof qb is an idiot

Randy Gradishar.

7 X Pro Bowl
5 X All Pro
7 X All AFC
1978 NFL Defensive Player of the Year

Averaged 205 tackles per season in his NFL career with a total of 2049 tackles for his career which is among the NFL leaders. Ray Lewis had 2050 tackles but it took him 17 years and 16 game seasons to accomplish this while Gradishar did it in 10 years of 14 game seasons.

The NFL has never had a tackling machine in the mode of Gradishar since his retirement.

Also, Lynn Swan being in the hall is a joke. So many great players from earlier days left out and so many meh players in. The hall of fame for back in the day should be called the hall of any decent Packers, steelers, Cowboy

I remember Jack Ham saying in an interview once that the only reason he got into the HOF was because the Steelers won 4 Super Bowls. And he probably was one of the best OLBs in history.

According to Pro Football Reference, the players with careers of similar quality to Lynn Swann are Darrell Jackson, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Carl Pickens, Al Toon and Plaxico Burress.

I'd say those 4 Super Bowls definitely propped Swann up.

Championships help a player. That's not up for debate but that comparison does open my eyes a bit. Guess it's okay to hold my breath for Plaxico to get into the Hall of Fame. I mean, Plaxico did something no other NFL player had done; shot himself in the leg with his own gun in a nightclub.

Also word is getting out that Jerome Bettis and Ron Wolf have been selected for induction in the HOF. That's 2 spots out of a potential high of 8 spots.

Harrison needs to wait.

My choices: (new rules are at least 4 but not more than 8 total elected):
1.Junior Seau - One of the greatest LBs of all-time
2.Tim Brown - 19,000+ all purpose yards
3.Orlando Pace - Legit Stud at LT
4.Will Shields - 12 Pro Bowls, started 223 out of 224 careers games
5.Don Coryell - amazing offensive coach
6.Mick Tingelhoff - Senior candidate - 17 years in league with 240 games started out of 240 total games
7.Bill Polian - contributor candidate
8.Ron Wolf - contributor candidate

No Kevin Greene even in your top 8?

You dumb.
